*AP Statistics may be taken concurrently with an upper level math course at the system’s discretion.
**There are three possible AMDM courses to be used as Fourth Year Options: Advanced Mathematical Decision Making,
Advanced Mathematical Decision Making in Industry and Government, and Advanced Mathematical Decision Making in
Finance. Individual schools will determine how many and which of these courses will be offered.
*** IB Math Studies is the prerequisite for these courses.
Option 1: This option includes grade-level standards and tasks for middle grade students. After Mathematics III
students may take Mathematics IV, AP Statistics, Discrete Mathematics or a fourth year GPS math course (AMDM).
To meet the diploma requirements associated with IB Standard Level Mathematics, students may take IB
Mathematics Studies after Mathematics III, followed by IB Math SL.
Option 2: This option includes grade-level standards in middle school. It is possible for students who successfully
complete middle grades standards to take Accelerated Mathematics. After Accelerated Mathematics III students
may take AP Calculus, AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, a fourth year GPS mathematics
course (AMDM). After either Accelerated Mathematics III and/or IB Mathematics SL, students may choose IB
Mathematics HL to meet the IB diploma requirements for Higher Level.
Option 3: This option requires the compacting of three years of middle grades standards into two years and the
completion of Mathematics I in Grade 8. After completing the Mathematics I-III sequence, students may take IB
Mathematics Studies and IB Mathematics SL to meet the IB diploma requirements of Standard Level Mathematics.
Option 4: This option is for students who aer highly talented in mathematics. It requires the compacting of three
years of middle grades standards into two years and Accelerated Mathematics in Grade 8. After completing Accel
Math II, students may take either Accelerated Mathematics III or IB Mathematics SL followed by Mathematics HL
to meet the IB diploma requirements for Higher Level Mathematics.
