TEAS Remediation/Retest Approval Request June 2017
American River College Nursing Department
ATI TEAS Guidelines Effective Spring 2017
A new version of the “Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS)” commenced September 1,
2016. Students who completed the previous version (TEAS V) may submit those test scores until
the application period for the fall 2018 nursing class. Beginning with the spring 2017 application,
if a student has multiple test scores within one year, only the first/earliest score will be accepted
unless evidence of remediation is provided.
A minimum passing composite score of 62% is required for entry into the ARC Nursing
program.
Students who score less than 62% will be required to remediate prior to retesting.
Students who wish to improve their score (original score greater than 62%) may also
remediate and retest.
Students who remediate to improve their score for either reason must complete and
submit a “Remediation/Retest Approval Request” form (below) with their application.
Further information can be found on the ARC nursing website regarding TEAS
preparation, registration, remediation, and testing.
TEAS Remediation Process:
Determine your remediation plan by assessing your TEAS test results and reviewing the “ATI TEAS
Preparation/Remediation” document on the nursing website.
1. Complete the “Remediation/Retest Approval Request” form. Students who desire or need
direction for a remediation plan may contact the Nursing Department Office at
2. Submit a “Remediation/Retest Approval Request” form to the Nursing Department Office HEED 731;
3. Allow two (2) weeks for review and approval by ARC Nursing Department Admissions Committee;
4. Retake the TEAS test. 5. Submit “Remediation/Retest Approval Request” and new test scores with application.
Please note the following:
TEAS minimum score of 62% applies to California Community College Nursing Programs only.
Students have one year from first/earliest test date to complete remediation, provide documentation, and receive approval for re-test of TEAS. Once a year has passed, only the applicants earliest/first test scores will be accepted for program application.
It is highly suggested, though not required, that students testing less than 50% in any one section of the TEAS test remediate before program entry. Please see “Preparation and/or Remediation” document on our website.
