Summers @ Lausanne offers a variety of independent athletic camps in addition to its daily summer camp schedule. Students can choose from soccer, tennis, basketball, cross country, general fitness and more. Camps take place in Lausanne's indoor and outdoor sports complexes.

Swim Lessons

JK & SK • June 4 - June 8 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Camp Instructor Fee: $150

Get ready to splash into summer with the swimming basics! Campers will swim away the morning learning gator glides, floating techniques, and simple strokes. Lifeguards will be on site in order to ensure camper safety.

Fitness Frenzy

1st & 2nd grades • June 11 - June 15 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) 3rd & 4th grades • June 4 - June 8 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Leslie Brahm Fee: $125

Come get in shape and have fun! From running to swimming, campers will exercise and play various games while learning about different sports. This camp will be directed by Leslie Brahm, Lausanne’s lower school PE teacher and Middle school track and Cross country coach. Leslie has trained athletes of all abilities and ages, she has worked with the MRTC Kids running program, was a triathlon coach for Team in Training for the leukemia and Lymphoma society and has her own training business, Infinity Multi-sport.

Girls Basketball 5th - 8th grades • July 9 - July 13 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Wayne Kelley Fee: $125

If you need to improve your free throw percentage or your three point shot, this is the camp for you! You will focus on the fundamentals of basketball during the clinic and improve your passing skills, dribbling, stance and positioning. You will learn two or three offenses and defenses and practice these in game situations. Most importantly, you will have fun!

Boys Basketball 5th - 8th grades • June 4 - June 8 (12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)

Kenneth White Fee: $50

This camp is designed for players of all skill levels and offers individual instruction, skills evaluation and improvements, plus fun games. The camp will be directed by Kenneth White, Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Lausanne. White just finished his third season as Head Boys’ Varsity Coach and has led the Lynx to two Regional Championships. This brochure was printed as the team headed to the State Tournament.

White has an extensive basketball history, encompassing years of coaching and playing experience on the high school and collegiate levels. He was a starter at national powerhouse and 7-Time National Champion, Oak Hill Academy, where his team was ranked as high as #2 in the Nation by USA Today. He was often matched up against current NBA Stars such as Tracy McGrady, Lamar Odom and Tayshawn Prince.

Upon graduation, he continued his career at the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of the 2000 Final Four Team. There, he continued to study the game of basketball, under the tutelage of Hall of Fame Coach Dean Smith, his longtime assistant Bill Guthridge and Former National College Player of the Year & 1979 NBA Rookie of the Year, Phil Ford.

In 2001, Kenneth returned to his hometown of Chattanooga to coach Girls’ High School Basketball at Tyner Academy. There, he helped turn their program into one of the most respected programs in East Tennessee, breaking many

Spencer Lynch Fee: $125

How’s your kick? Need to work on passing, strategy, tactics, and dribbling? You will learn the fundamental skills in this one-week clinic, working individually as well as in game situations.

All Star Sports

Camp Instructor Fee: $125

A camp centered around sports! This camp is designed to help you practice your skills at a number of sports such as kickball, basketball, and many others. Campers will learn basic skills, sportsmanship fundamentals and the rules of the games. Tennis shoes are a MUST for this camp.

Boys Lacrosse

5th - 8th grades • June 18 - June 22 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Tyler Orf Fee: $125

Lausanne’s Boy’s Lacrosse camp will focus on learning the skills necessary to become a great lacrosse player while having fun at the same time. Campers will spend time each day working on shooting, cradling, passing, dodging and defense. These skills will be taught and practiced through a variety of scrimmages and games including mini-goal games, sharks and minnows, Thunderdome and many more. Campers will also have the opportunity to watch past NCAA championship games. Beginners are welcome. The camp will be led by Tyler Orf, Lausanne Lacrosse Assistant Coach, who has had 4 years coaching experience and 6 years of lacrosse summer camp experience. Orf, who has been involved with this game for over a decade, was awarded the All Conference Attackman while playing during high school. This camp is sure to help you improve your game! Campers are required to have the following equipment: Helmet, Gloves, Stick, Shoulder Pads, Arm Pads.

Running 7th - 12th grades • June 18 - June 22 (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) Jonas Holdeman Fee: $300

The Lausanne Cross Country Day Camp offers a special blend of wonderful running opportunities and unique learning experiences for boys and girls in 7th through 12th grades. Each camp day morning will be spent running at one of Shelby County’s finest trail venues--Shelby Farms, Shelby Forest or Stanky Creek--while the afternoons will be devoted to the enjoyment of watching exciting NCAA, Olympic and World Championship races, learning about the latest training techniques designed to help any runner achieve their best, as well as participating in runner-specific strength and speed development exercises. Lausanne Collegiate School, featuring its beautiful new indoor athletic complex and spacious outdoor training facility, will play host to runners from all over the tri-state area. The camp will be directed by Lausanne’s cross country and track coach, Jonas Holdeman, a USATF Level III endurance coach and long-time trainer of top athletes from around the country. Coach Holdeman has trained athletes of all abilities at the youth, high school, collegiate and post-collegiate level for over twenty years, and has been the featured expert in publications such as Runner’s World and Men’s Health magazines. The camp promises to be the best week of any young runner’s summer 2012!

Cheerleading1st - 4th grades • June 25 - June 29 • 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Leslie Brahm Fee: $125

This youth cheerleading camp is open to all girls who have an interest in cheerleading, no prior experience required! During this camp, you will learn the basics of becoming a cheerleader. We will cover basic motions and fun sideline chants and cheers. Campers should wear comfortable shorts and t-shirts with tennis shoes (no sandals or backless shoes). This camp will be led by Leslie Brahm. Leslie is Lausanne’s lower school PE teacher and middle school cheer coach. Leslie was a former cheerleader and worked with UCA back in her high school and early college years. She promises this camp will be energetic, exciting, and very entertaining for your future cheerleader! Go Lynx!

Tri Camp 1st - 4th grades • July 9 - July 13 • 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Leslie Brahm Fee: $125

Are you ready to do your first triathlon? Ready to get fit this summer while having fun? Grab your bike, running shoes, and swim suit and let’s get moving! Each day of camp we will work on swimming, biking and running techniques. We also will include many fitness games, water games, and relays! At the end of the week, we will have our very own triathlon in the Lausanne pool and grounds. This camp will be directed by Leslie Brahm, Lausanne’s lower school PE teacher and Middle school track and Cross country coach. Leslie has trained athletes of all abilities and ages, she has worked with the MRTC Kids running program, was a triathlon coach for Team in Training for the leukemia and Lymphoma society and has her own training business, Infinity Multi-sport. Leslie is a competitive triathlete and runner. She has completed in over 50 endurance events including Ironman, Half- Ironman, 50k’s and various triathlons’s, marathons, and half marathons. Tony Womeodu Fee: $125

Learn to play, improve your abilities and work on a multitude of skills. Students will have opportunities to play games, improve coordination and work on tennis techniques on the Lausanne tennis courts. This camp will be led by Tony Womeodu, Director of Tennis at Lausanne. Womeodu, who has over 20 years of experience teaching tennis professional, has been awarded 5 consecutive years for the National Excellence Programs from United States Tennis Association Grants.

Get ready to dance to the music! Campers will explore all kinds of dance as they prepare for a summer recital at the end of the week. NO experience is needed, but be sure to bring a great attitude and your dancing feet! Leotard, dance skirt, ballet shoes and tights strongly encouraged!
