Introduction

Mini Greek School of Greek Language, History and Culture is designed for students who want to make rapid progress in their Greek language and deepen their knowledge about Greece and its culture. It offers an intensive language course and includes grammar, reading, speaking and writing and provides also an insight into Ancient Greek History and civilization.

The program is implemented at the hotel premises and the students have a lot of free time to enjoy the sun, the sea and Greek life. Also, students will have the opportunity to visit archaeological sites and museums.

Our Greek teachers are qualified, specialized and experienced in teaching Greek as a foreign language. They are available after lesson to chat with their students about topics of interest, and to help them discover the beauty and charm of the places they are visiting.

At the end of the day, the students will have enjoyed the famous Greek gastronomy and experienced the Greek music, traditional dances and the unique nightlife.

After the completion of the program, the students will be able to understand and use every day Greek expressions. They will also be able to ask and answer questions.

Detailed Agenda Day 1

Arrival in Athens airport (Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport). Our driver will be waiting for the students at the airport to take them to the hotel in Athens for the check in. In the evening there will be a meeting with the Education Coordinator and a tour around the hotel and the classrooms. Students will receive the educational material and the detailed agenda, and they will meet the teachers and gain detailed information about the educational terms. Free time and dinner.

Argolis day - trip: Students will visit some of the most important archaeological sites of Greece. Early morning departure from Athens. In about one hour and twenty minutes they will reach the Corinth Canal where they will make a short stop to admire the Canal which connects two Greek Seas -The Aegean and the Ionian Sea. In about one hour the group arrives to the ancient city of Mycenae. They will visit the Treasury of Atreus (Tomb of Agamemnon), the Mycenaean Citadel with the Cyclopean Walls and the Lionesses Gate. After lunch, students will make a short stop at the city of Nafplio. In about 40 minutes they will reach Epidaurus; This city is the birthplace of Apollo's son Asklepios, the healer, and was the most famous healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most known for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and is still used today due to its amazing acoustics. The group arrives to Athens in the afternoon.

Delphi day - trip: Departure for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, and arrival in Delphi.

Our professional licensed tour guide will offer a guided tour at the archaeological site and the museum of Delphi. They will learn about the history of one of the most significant archaeological sites which ancient Greeks considered to be the navel of the earth. They will see monuments such as the Athenian Treasury, the Theatre, the Navel of the Earth, the Sacred Way, the Apollo Temple and many more. In the Museum of Delphi they will admire unique treasures such as the world famous bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx and the Statue of Antinoos and many other masterpieces of classical Greek art.

Ancient Olympia day - trip: On our trip to Ancient Olympia ( the birthplace of Olympic Games) students will visit the Temple of Zeus, which once housed the gold and ivory statue of Zeus. Before it was destroyed by fire, the statue was listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The students will also see the original stadium and bouleuterion, which housed the council of citizens. The museum is near the archaeological site. It is home to many priceless exhibits, including marble statues from the Temple of Zeus and a unique statue of Hermes, carved by the ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles. After visiting the site and the museum, students will make a short stop in the village of Olympia, where they will have free time.

Athens by night walking tour: The evening begins with a pleasant panoramic drive through the beautiful city center, near Acropolis, a stunning sight, and with a walk through the narrow pedestrian street of Plaka. Students will explore the old city of Athens on the way to a local taverna. A folklore show will follow, with live music and dancers in traditional costumes. The students will taste the flavors of Greece at this restaurant. This evening is a perfect way to eat and drink like Greeks do.

After breakfast students will be transferred to the airport for the return flight. The participants will have experienced the Greek Language, Ancient History and Culture and received a lot of knowledge. They are given the opportunity to continue on line studying through the e-learning platform. Also, they will have enjoyed Greek gastronomy and they will have gained extraordinary experiences of Greek music and dances. It is almost certain they will soon return to another Mini Greek School........

Mini Greek Schools uses 3 star hotels located in the center of city, making your activities easily accessible.

3/. Where do the courses take place?

You will attend the courses in the same hotel you stay.

4/. What are the accommodation options for solo travelers in this tour?

You can share a double room with another solo traveler of the same gender or you can pay

the single supplement fee if you wish to get your own room.

5/. What about my flights?

Your flights to or from Athens are not included in the trip price. You can organize your

flights separately at any point. We recommend that you arrive in Athens on the day before

your program starts.

6/. Who will organize my visa?

You are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to the departure of your trip.

Depending on your nationality, you may need visas to enter certain countries included on

your trip. Obtaining visas can take up to six weeks prior to your departure. It is strongly

recommended that you consult your travel agency and the local Consulate or Embassy of

the country you are visiting to inform you about the visas required.

7/. In which language the courses offered?

The program is available in the following language options: English - French - German - Italian - Russian.

8/. What about travel insurance? It is strongly recommended that you take out comprehensive insurance cover for cancellation, personal injury, death, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and evacuation expenses before you travel on a V-travel holiday. We strongly recommend your insurance also covers cancellation, personal liability and loss of personal property. V-travel cannot be held responsible for your failure to take out appropriate insurance.

Tips

The official language of Greece is Greek. Most Greeks under the age of 50 speak English.

The currency in Greece is the Euro. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere but ATM’s are widely available.

Reward good service by leaving a tip of about 5-10%. Keep things casual when packing for Greece. Lightweight layers in natural fibres will

serve you well. Be sure to try the national dish of moussaka. Water is usually safe on the mainland

but you’ll need to drink bottled water on the islands.

Don’t leave Greece without some worry beads, a backgammon board and some “evil eye” pendants.

Voting is required by law for every citizen who is 18 or older. Greek people wave with a closed hand as it is considered rude to show your palm of

your hand in public.

Welcome meeting We welcome all our participants by providing them with a Welcome KIT on arrival, organizing a Welcome Meeting on

the first day and guaranteeing 24/7 personal and professional support, thanks to our specialized staff. Mini Greek Schools’ curriculum Mini Greek Schools’ curriculum is developed by experts in tourism and certified training organizations and at the end of the courses there is an evaluation process and an Award Graduation Certificate Ceremony for trainees. Teachers Language courses are taught by native teachers with experience in teaching Greek as a second language. The teaching method is based on communication. Students actively exercise the four fundamental functions of the language: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Particular attention, however, is given to conversation, to develop an increasing capacity to express themselves and communicate in Greek from the beginning of the course. Certificates At the end of the program, participants are given: • Greek Language course certificate with indication of level • Certificate of participation issued by Certified Center of Vocational Education and Training ( K.E.K ORAMA) Final Report At the end of the program, we prepare a Final Report containing information about the project: lessons, methods, evaluation, training tours, results.

Educational level

At the end of the lessons, participants are expected to have acquired the skills to: Use everyday vocabulary as well as some basic phrases to communicate. Introduce themselves and be able to ask and answer questions about each other's (e.g. where they live, people they know, things they own). Interact in a basic way, provided that the co-speaker uses a clear and slow speech.
