■ ATDI introduces... Map data conversion plug-ins for Global Mapper

Imagine being able to convert a wide range of readily available map data sets directly into a form that can be used by the ATDI tools at the click of a mouse. ATDI has developed a Plug-in to the Global Mapper GIS software enabling users to simply import a wide range of readily available imagery, terrain and clutter data into formats suited to ICS Telecom, HTZ Warfare and ICS Basic.

Overview

The ATDI Plug-in gives Global Mapper seamless support for ATDI imagery, terrain and clutter file formats. This allows the user to open GIS files in generic file formats such as ASRP, DTED, GeoTIFF and ESRI ArcInfo ASCII, and then export straight to those formats used in the ATDI tools. The software also allows the import of SRTM data direct from the web, so the user can create terrain data files useable within ATDI’s tools in minutes.

Global Mapper is well known as a ‘Swiss Army knife’ of GIS software that has been adopted by many users the world over as a toolbox to read, treat, visualise and export raster and vector GIS data sets of many different formats.

The tool is particularly strong in the raster domain and has a great viewer which includes the ability to open many data files as a mosaic, the transparent overlay of datasets and the ability to shade data with user defined pixel shaders.

The advanced features include the ability to geo-reference data such as scanned maps, the capture of vector data and a scripting language to automate repetitive operations.

The great benefit of the Plug-in is that it is possible to import from a wide range of data formats in which data is readily available and then to visualise, re-project and export into the ATDI native formats without requiring much user effort.

The ATDI Global Mapper Plug-in complements the ICS Map Server product, which offers more advanced functionality such as contour capture, raster data editing and ortho-rectification of imagery, as well as support for some more esoteric file formats.

Price, Terms & Conditions

Single User licence inc 1st year support £750 / €1100 + VAT. Discount for multiple user licences applies for simultaneous purchases. Subsequent years of support and upgrades = 50% of the prevailing list price per annum.

The standard licence is machine locked with a soft licence key. This can be upgraded to a machine portable licence dongle for an additional charge or £325 / €500 + VAT allowing a user to share the licence between multiple machines by connecting the dongle to one machine at a time. A network licence dongle is also available for an additional cost of £750 / €1100 + VAT allowing users to share the licence on the same network. The prices are correct at the time of going to press but may be reviewed from time to time.
