Greetings from the Senior Minister It is a privilege to present Mid-Town Concert Series. This ministry of Central Christian Church builds on a decades-long commitment to creative and innovative worship and service in the Mid-Town neighborhood of Springfield. This season is filled with a variety of performance opportunities highlighted by the annual Garner Phillips Memorial Organ Concert, the Candace L. French Memorial Piano Concert, and Keyboards at Christmas concert. We are excited to offer these concerts and certainly hope you will find them enjoyable and fulfilling. The series is free and open to the public, offered as a gift to the Springfield community. The Central Christian Church congregation has a long- established commitment to excellence in music ministry, sharing God’s love for all in song and, with this series, extends this message to a broader community. It is our hope that The Greatest Gift will become real to you through the musical gifts offered in this series. Sunday, October 7, 2018 • 3:00 p.m. Betsy Nace is a native of Springfield, Missouri and alumna of Missouri State University, receiving the degree of Bachelor of Music in

Flute Performance. She was a member of the Springfield Symphony before winning the second flute position in the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Buffalo, New York serving for 16 years. She has a special passion for chamber music and has been active in many chamber groups. She is featured on a number of professional recordings including the CD Café featuring The Reeds/Ali Flute & Guitar Duo on their tour performance in Barcelona, Spain.

SONG & LARSEN DUO Sunday, March 3, 2019 • 3:00 p.m. Chi Young Song, violin, and Josquin Larsen, viola, first began performing together as a duo while students at the

Boston Conservatory. Their collaboration has led to performances throughout the US including a recent performance at the 2018 American Viola Society Festival in Los Angeles. Dr. Song currently holds the position of Coordinator of Strings/Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at Arkansas State University, Mr. Larsen joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville in 2018. Both gentlemen frequent domestic and international stages.

R BRADLEY JENT, organ Sunday, November 4, 2018 • 3:00 p.m. Bradley Jent, organist of the Schweitzer United Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri, will present the annual Garner

Phillips Memorial Organ Concert with a program titled Praise and Worship with Hymns. Mr. Jent, a new resident of Springfield, comes to our area from Atlanta, Georgia where he was organist at McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church for the last 20 years. He has a God given talent for improvisation and inspirational hymn accompaniments which we will enjoy to its fullest. Mr. Jent studied organ with Ken Boone and TomAlderman.

you the classics like you've never heard before! Rebecca Claborn, Dawn Gutierrez, Jennifer Forni and Genevieve Fulks have put a new flare on the classic show stoppers. Hear the works of Puccini, Mozart, and many others with new harmonies and dramatic interpretations. All four are professional singers and teachers of voice known in the region and around the country. You’ll be laughing, you’ll be crying, but most importantly, you will be blown away!

R KEYBOARDS at CHRISTMAS Sunday, December 16, 2018 • 3:00 p.m. The annual Keyboards at Christmas concert will feature beloved Christmas hymns and carols using various combinations of two

grand pianos and organ. The performers for the day will be keyboard musicians from Central Christian Church and throughout the community. A favorite feature of Keyboards at Christmas is the singing of carols accompanied by the various combinations of keyboard instruments. The Handbell Choir of Central Christian will be featured at 2:45 p.m. as prelude music to the program ringing in the sounds of the season. Come, celebrate the joyful music of Christmas!

COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS Sunday, May 5, 2019 • 3:00 p.m. The choral ensembles of The College of the Ozarks will present the final concert in the

2018-2019 season. The Chapel Choir, under the direction of Mr. Gregg Busch, is a non-auditioned mixed vocal ensemble whose primary focus is music ministry serving as worship leaders for the campus congregation in weekly worship. The Chorale, under the direction of Dr. John Cornish, is the college’s premier auditioned choral ensemble drawn from a diverse cross-section of majors, and whose members share a passion for excellence in the choral art form and glorifying God by creating beautiful music.

GREGORY WORTHLEY, piano Sunday, February 3, 2019 • 3:00 p.m. The annual Candace L. French Memorial Piano Concert will be presented by Gregory Worthley, a junior piano performance major

at Evangel University where he is a student of Dr. Greg Morris. Mr. Worthley started his piano career in a junior high keyboard class where he discovered his aptitude and love for music. Upon completion of his baccalaureate degree Mr. Worthley plans to pursue graduate studies in piano. Candace French was the beloved Director of Music of Central Christian Church and music educator in the Willard school district. SPEC
