Cared for by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart
at a glance
In a nutshell John points out to two of his disciples that Jesus is passing by, and they follow Jesus. It is late afternoon, and by evening they are sure they have found the Messiah. Andrew tells his brother, Simon, and takes him to meet Jesus. Just being with Jesus confirms their desire to stay with him. We too can stay with Jesus, and our love and our faith will be strengthened.
Acts 13:14.43-52 Rejection is opportunity
Apocalypse 7:9.14-17 The Lamb their shepherd John 10:27-30 Mine forever
Raise your voices Entrance antiphon: May all the earth give you worship and praise, and break into song to your name, O God, Most High. Response to the psalm: Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will. Gospel acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! We have found the Messiah: Jesus Christ, who brings us truth and grace. Alleluia!

“Come and See” Everybody knew Josh. He was an elderly man. Always ready to do a good turn for anyone. He had a son who was a Priest, and he was widely respected in the parish. One day a group of parishioners were talking about what they would like to do in life, if they had their time again. When it came to Josh’s turn, he took everyone by surprise: “What I’d want to be is what I’ve always wanted to be; a good plumber!”. Everyone knew that Josh was a plumber. Plumbing was his job, his vocation, though Josh would never have called it that because in those days the word “vocation” was pretty well restricted– at least in Catholic circles– to priests and nuns. Bit in fact “vocation” simply means a calling. And all of us share in that first, most basic and most wonderful calling, the one we received at baptism– that of being a follower of Christ. But within that vocation the Lord calls us to serve him in a variety of other ways– as married or single, priest or religious, teacher, police officer or plumber

Saint Of The Week
As a young man, Saint Anthony sold all his land and possessions and gave the proceeds to the poor. He lived by himself in the Egyptian desert for 20 years, before being sought out by admirers. He encouraged his followers to base their lives on the Gospel and in the early fourth century he established a monastery.
