A Message from the Greek Sing Chairs

Welcome to Greek Sing 2015! We are excited to be partnering again this year with Valley of the Sun United Way in attempt to help the organization raise awareness for their main community objectives. All proceeds from tonight’s event and Greek Week go directly to Valley of the Sun United Way. Greek Sing is a competitive event in which Fraternity & Sorority chapters work collaboratively to choreograph a performance based on songs and characters related to this year’s theme, Greek Gods and Goddesses. Coordinating tonight’s show has been an eye-opening experience for us. Through planning this event we have been exposed to the many challenges of collaborating with 30+ chapters, university administration, and local businesses. We are thankful to have been presented with this opportunity as it has been a huge stepping stone in preparing us for the many projects our future careers will present. We offer a special thank you to the Fraternity & Sorority Life staff, specifically Winston Bland, Carli Mercer, Jameson Root, and Monica McGee, for their continued support, dedication, and humor throughout planning this event. With the final event of Greek Week upon us, we would like to thank all of the chapters for their participation throughout the week. We would also like to thank you, the audience, for your support of tonight’s performances. We are excited that you have decided to join us this evening and we hope that you enjoy Greek Sing 2015! Sincerely, Ryan Page Cody West Sigma Phi Epsilon Sigma Phi Epsilon Greek Sing Co-Chair Greek Sing Co-Chair

About Valley of the Sun United Way

Since 1925, Valley of the Sun United Way has been uniting diverse partners and bringing together donors, business supporters, non-profits, government and faith-based communities to build a stronger Valley for us all. To accomplish this, United Way is keenly focused on achieving three Community Objectives:

Ensure Children and Youth Succeed

End Hunger and Homelessness

Increase the Financial Stability of Families and Individuals

United Way is the largest investor in health and human services in the Valley. With the support of more than 90,000 individual donors, 700 business supporters, and a wide array of volunteers and partners, we effectively create change on two levels:

We drive systemic change that impacts entire communities

We transform individual lives every day

Together, we’ll build a stronger community for us all to live, work and raise our families. You can help us reach our fundraising goals by continuing to donate throughout tonight’s performances. Visit bit.ly/asugreeksing2015 to support our community.

Performance Summaries (in order of appearance)

Team 5 | Delta Chi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, & Sigma Alpha Mu

Helen of Troy, the most beautiful woman in the world, is unhappily married to King Menelaus of Sparta. Meanwhile, Helen has been engaging in an affair with Paris, Prince of Troy. He comes to sweep her away from Sparta, only to be followed by King Menelaus into the town of Thebes. There, Paris and King Menelaus draw their swords and fight for Helen’s affection. Paris disarms King Menelaus, and gives him the opportunity to leave and never return. The King threatens Paris that this is not the end of their conflict. Thus, alluding to the infamous 10 year battle that is the Trojan War. Team 4 | Delta Zeta, Sigma Phi Epsilon, & Theta Chi

Retelling the tale of Hercules, our team combines a series of modern, jazz, and hip-hop choreography into a performance bound to get you off your seats and back into the days when Hades ruled the underworld. As the audience travels with us back in time, they will get to live in the moments of Hercules’ glory and even defeat against the Hydra, whom Hades hath sent to do his dirty work. Through trials and tribulations, we know who reigns supreme, no one in the Greek world but our team. Team 2 | Delta Gamma, Pi Kappa Alpha, & Sigma Lambda Beta

Delta Gamma, Pi Kappa Alpha, & Sigma Lambda Beta’s performance is nothing like you have ever seen before. This performance centered around Poseidon (God of the Sea) and Gaia (Goddess of the Earth) will bring you on a land to sea journey as we sink Atlantis. We hope you are all ready to “dive in” and enjoy our performance!

Team 9 | Alpha Phi & Kappa Sigma

We are going to show the strength of the Nemean Lion and the Phoenix throughout our performance. We will show that even if we are put down, we will rise from the ashes like the Phoenix. We will show that we cannot be stopped and that we were meant to win. We were sent to terrorize Greek Sing, just as the Nemean Lion terrorized Nemea. We are bringing the intensity and our unstoppable choreography to the competition. We will not leave without being crowned victors. Team 1 | Alpha Chi Omega, Pi Kappa Phi, & Sigma Pi

A lost and confused Centaur falls deeply in love with a beautiful young goddess. The feelings aren’t mutual and the young goddess would not dare be seen in public with such a monster. The Centaur would do anything to win over the captor of his heart. Can The Muses help our young goddess find inner beauty and “shake off” those feelings of insecurity?

Team 7 | Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Kappa Lambda,

Delta Upsilon, & Zeta Beta Tau

We take on the story of Ares, the God of War, versus Nike, the Goddess of Victory, with help of the powerful women warriors, the Amazons. The performers will demonstrate the battle scene between Ares and Nike as well as the intensity of the Amazons through creative song and dance. We hope you enjoy our performance!

Team 10 | Chi Omega, Delta Sigma Phi, & Sigma Tau Gamma

We all have heard the story of Pandora’s Box, the tale of Pandora being tricked into opening a box capable of untold chaos into the world-- In this new tale Pandora is on the loose, spreading bad music to the ends of the world. In the midst of this disaster, we find two adventurous Sun Devils who’ve teamed up with the Greek gods Apollo and Chronos to aide in their quest. Dancing their way through the decades will be the only way that this ragtag team of time travelers can stop Pandora and save the world.

Team 6 | Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Alpha Theta,

Phi Gamma Delta, & Sigma Phi Beta

The goddess of the moon, magic, witchcraft, and necromancy; our team shall be taking on the character Hecate. We will be demonstrating the true form of leadership as the world bows down to the epic control of our Goddess. With vigorous hip-hop dancing balanced with contemporary jazz, we will solidify the combination of power and beauty. Our chapters are in it to win it! So are you ready to play with magic? Team 8 | Alpha Sigma Phi, Chi Phi, Gamma Rho Lambda, &

Sigma Kappa

We’re comin’ at ya’ with gold fire and furry creatures in this number. Our diverse team has been working their butts off to provide you with a culturally diverse performance. From a little bit of stomp the yard to some current moves y’all like to do on the dance floor we’re going to have Greek Sing goin’ up. Our storyline tells about Artemis and her animal friends, Hephaestus and his passion for fire, and King Midas and Tyche who are all about their gold and money. Sit back and watch team 8 steal the show and stroll their way to victory.

Team 3 | Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Chi Lambda, & Delta Tau Delta

Friends, Grecians, countrymen: lend me your ear and I will tell you a tale of mythical proportions! Once upon a time there was a dashing prince and his beautiful damsel. Doesn't that sound lovely? But, little did they know, a crew of creeping cyclops had their eyes...or should I say eye on the beautiful woman. And the hero had struck a chord with a squad of seductive sirens. Can even Aphrodite save these lovers from their impending doom!?! We will just have to see...

Team 11 Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Beta Phi, & Theta Delta Chi

Pi Beta Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Theta Delta Chi will not fail to amaze you. Throughout the performance you will be in awe over not only the incredible dance moves, but by the original, entertaining raps produced by members of our lovely chapters. The Greek Characters we will be representing in our performance are the Griffon, Hera, and Athena. You will hear some of your favorite songs, including Crazy in Love, IDFWU, and Anaconda, switched up a bit. Sit, back, relax and get ready to be amazed by the members of Pi Phi, Lambda Chi, and Theta Chi. Choreographed by Madison Nikole Handy, Natasha Miller and Madelaine Bauer.
