ASU is one of the most cost-effective universities in the country. Our cost to produce a degree is 20 percent below the

national median.

ASU’s tuition and fees are at the median of our peer institutions,

and we have committed to limiting annual increases to less

than 3 percent and holding them as close to zero as possible

through fiscal year 2025. Arizona ranks 7th among states

with the lowest debt upon graduation, and 41 percent of ASU

undergraduate students graduated with no debt in 2018.

Approximately 85 percent of our resident undergraduate

student body receives gift aid. Still, we know that barriers to

higher education exist for many residents. To help alleviate

those barriers, ASU offers dozens of lower-cost degree options

including community college partnerships, accelerated and

online degrees, and reduced tuition in select circumstances.

Arizona students need flexible and affordable access to

high-quality degrees. To support students across the state,

Arizona State University offers low-cost, efficient degree programs

that are accessible to all learners. This commitment to degree

attainment helps ensure that all students who are qualified to attend

ASU have enrollment options that fit their needs.

The following is an overview of cost-effective enrollment

programs designed to support degree attainment.

ASU offers low-cost degree options in partnership with community colleges acrossthe state of Arizona. The following are ASU locations, beyond the four Phoenixcampuses, where ASU degrees can be earned. Tuition at all locations is $3,217 for 12+ credits per semester.

Another cost-effective and time-efficient option for students is enrolling in an accelerated or online degree program. ASU offers multiple ways to earn an accelerated degree.

• 4+1 programs enable undergraduate students to take graduate-level coursework during their final year, while paying undergraduate tuition.

• 3+1=2 programs in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering enable qualified students to earn a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in four years. Enrollment in 3+1=2 programs capitalizes on credits earned through the following tests and programs:

– Advanced Placement – Cambridge International Exam – Earned Admission – International Baccalaureate – Transfer coursework (or dual

enrollment)

• Three-year degrees are currently available through ASU Online (nine degree programs) and on the Tempe campus (nine degree programs). Additional campus immersion programs will be offered in sociology, biology, family studies, political science, history and English.

• ASU Online degrees are lower cost options for Arizonans who choose not to enroll and reside in university housing on ASU campuses.

For community college students who plan to transfer to ASU, pathway agreements offer an affordable option. Students follow ASU degree major maps and complete courses that fulfill degree requirements, while meeting Arizona General Education Curriculum and associate degree requirements.

• All pathway credits transfer and apply to a student’s chosen ASU major.

• Agreements with community colleges offer streamlined and low-cost paths to degree attainment.

ASU offers ABOR-approved, reduced-tuition options to Arizonans who meet special criteria.

• Students graduating from an Arizona high school with lawful presence, but who do not have resident status in Arizona, receive 150 percent resident tuition by ABOR approval. Qualified students save $40,428 in tuition and fees over the course of a four-year degree.

• All honorably discharged veterans, active

military members assigned to duty in Arizona, and individuals using Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits receive resident tuition by state statute. Qualified students save $59,016 in tuition and fees over the course of a four-year degree.

• Children from the foster care system receive scholarships for tuition and fees through ASU’s Foster Youth program. Qualified students save $43,288 in tuition and fees over the course of a four-year degree.

• As mandated by statute, the Arizona

Teachers Academy covers tuition and fees for up to two years for prospective teachers who commit to teaching in Arizona after graduation. Qualified students save $21,644 in tuition and fees over the course of a four-year degree.

ASU cost-effective programs for degree attainment

Students can choose from 263 ASU degrees through the Transfer Admission Guarantee and the Maricopa to ASU Pathways Program. Students enrolled in a TAG or MAPP save $16,544 in tuition and fees over the course of a four-year degree.
