The general characteristics to this particular class would be that they are fourth graders,
where the girls outnumber the boys by only two. These students come from different backgrounds;
2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans. My fourth grade class will demonstrate their
knowledge of a variety of holiday traditions from around the world by creating group posters with
different forms of media with 100% accuracy in two weeks. I will have my students studying how
different parts of the world celebrate holidays for the first week, going through a variety of
countries and holidays to show them all their options. I will assign groups in the middle of the
week. The second week will consist of their research. Internet websites, YouTube videos, and local
guests from different parts of the world will all be a part of my
media. I will create visuals, readings, hands on activities (such as booths of the different cultures
that have artifacts and foods on them), and videos to involve all the students and learning styles.
At the end of the lesson, I will ask the students if they enjoyed the project and what they would do
differently.
