I t is my unders tand ing tha t your last visit here in J u n e 1936 was a s t imulat ing one. I hope your 1954 meet ing will be even more so.

Since your last visit, we have expanded and improved our gues t facilities, so tha t I am confident you will be quite comfortable. Our scientific resources have also been improved to a g ra t i fy ing degree. Both the Da i ry Produc t ion Center and the Da i ry Cattle Breeding Research Center are completely new. They, as well as other unique research and instruct ional units on the campus, will interest most of you.

The 49th annual meet ing of the Amer ican Da i ry Science Association will be held June 22-24, 1954, on the campus of the Pennsy lvania State Univers i ty , State College, Pennsylvania . All members who wish to present papers should submit the titles and two copies of an abs t rac t of each p a p e r not l a te r than March 1 to the Cha i rman of their Section and an addit ional copy each to the Vice-Chairman and Secre tary of tha t Section. To be acceptable, an abs t rac t must not exceed 200 words. Terminology used in the abstracts should be under- s tandable by the general reader, according to a resolution adopted in 1951. I t is impor tan t that titles and abstracts be received prompt ly , since abst racts of the final p rog ram must be made available to the p r in t e r in t ime to appea r in the June issue of the Join'hal. I t may be necessary to read some papers by title only, if i t is found impossible, because of t ime limitations, to present them

It is desired that more contributions be sub- mitted by senior staff members and from the laboratories of industry.

Because of problems in slide projection, it is desirable for speakers to dis- tribute mimeographed copies of pertinent data, together with a brief summary of the paper.
