Sheila was born on November 19th, 1950 to George and Virginia Peace. She grew up in the small town of Franklinville, NY. She has two younger brothers, Bry- an and Kevin. She was very close to her parents and is still very close to her two brothers. Her father George worked for National Grid and her mother Virginia stayed home to raise the children until they all went off to school, Virginia went to work at Franklinville Elementary school as the secretary of the elementary princi- ple. Sheila loved school, she enjoyed singing in chorus. She also loved being in a play in high school, you can say that is where she developed her love for the thea- ter. Sheila graduated from Franklinville High School in 1969 and went to Jamestown Community College. After college, Sheila worked 23 years for Dresser Rand in Olean, NY. After leaving Dress- er Rand, Sheila worked as a teachers aide for the Hinsdale Central School district. She loved work- ing with the children. After work, Sheila spent her nights doing the thing she loved most, community theater. Sheila was part of the Olean Community Theater. The Olean Community Theater has been produc- ing plays since 1979. Sheila enjoyed the theater so much, she would perform in plays, sing in the chorus and helped direct plays. She also sat on the Board of Olean Community Theater for several years. Sheila talks fondly of her time in the theater, you can see the passion she has for O.C.T. and all of the people she has worked and performed with over the years. She is looking forward to see- ing their newest play, Legally Blonde the musical, which will be performing at the Allegany/ Limestone High School March 8th, 9th, 10th. Some of the plays Sheila has been a part of are; Fiddler on the Roof, where she played Yente the matchmaker, Night Mother, The King and I, Musical Chairs, Exit the Body, Crimes of the Heart, Oklahoma, The Foreigner, Night Watch, 42nd Street, Guys and Dolls, Moon over Buffalo, just to name a few. When Sheila wasn’t on stage performing or singing, she was backstage helping oth- er performers get ready. I was able to find a few pictures of the plays listed above, as Sheila and I looked through the pictures, her smile grew bigger and bigger as she took a trip down memory lane with each picture we looked at. Please follow us onto page two where you can see some of the pictures, you can see for yourself the many different characters she has played over the years. Theater will always hold a special place in her heart! Eden Heights Of Olean Assisted Living & Memory Care 2019 March Resident Spotlight: Sheila Peace

Ruth Bixby shared this nursery rhyme she would say to

her children when they were little. I wanted to share it with

all of you:

The North Wind Doth Blow

The north wind doth blow,

And we shall have snow,

And what will poor robin do then?

Poor thing.

He'll sit in a barn,

And keep himself warm,

And hide his head under his wing,

Poor thing.
