PHRASAL VERBS

Definition:

A group of words that functions as a verb and is made up of a verb and a preposition, an adverb, or both

A phrase (as take off or look down on) that combines a verb with a preposition or adverb or both and that functions as a verb whose meaning is different from the combined meanings of the individual words

BREAK UP My boyfriend and I broke upbefore I moved to

America

CHECK IN We will get the hotel keys when we check in.

CUT BACK ONMy doctor wants me to cut back on sweets and

fatty foods.

DRESS UP It's a fancy restaurant so we have to dress up.

CUT IN The bus driver got angry when that car cut in.

FALL APART My new dress fell apart in the washing

machine

LOOK AFTER I have to look after my sick grandmother.

GET AWAY We worked so hard this year that we had to get

away for a week.

GO BACKI have to go back home and get my lunch.

CALM DOWN You are still mad. You need to calm down before

you drive the car.

MY LIFE

I’m Karen Fúnes, i’m twenty nine years old. I live in

Barranquill, I’m studying Psicology at the UNAD University, I’m

pregnant i have seven month, It’s a girl.

My hobbies are read a books, listen to music, and go to the

parties.

My favorite food is shirme rice.

My expectation in this couse is to learn more english.

MY FAMILY

MY FUTURE PLANS I’m to be studying Psychologist, i’m in five semester. I am havin

a baby in January. I’t a girls, her name is Victoria. I’m so excited.

I’m working in a IPS. Such as behavior Therapist. I’m having a

baby shower in to weeks.

I’m traveling to Cartagena this weekend with my husband.

My family are arranging a special. I’m buying a lot ofgifts for

all my family.
