Purpose of Assessment for Learning Series

Georgia is refining its assessments for students and working to ensure that students are provided with rigorous thinking experiences that lead to the mastery of learning standards. This series provides teachers with information about major concepts, key terms and examples of classroom-based assessments.

• Assessment for Learning is a “formative process used by teachers and students during instruction that provides feedback to adjust ongoing teaching and learning. “– The Council for Chief State School Officers, 2010
