"I was really impressed with the first meeting, but to be honest I am even more impressed that I am still able to be apart of the program even though I had to arrive late (class) and leave early. Being a divorced mom, and college student, has its unique challenges and I can tell that this program is really going to help get me on the right track. I want to make a good life for myself, but also set a great example for my 6 year old! I am most definitely a non-traditional student in so many ways and I'm learning that instead of being a negative it really can be a positive since I will be able to stick out from the pact, so to speak. I can't wait for the next meeting." "Our first meeting went very well. I gained a lot of useful information. It was nice to meet all the Finish Line members. It was also nice to see the president of Normandale. She was so friendly. I really liked to see representative from Augsburg and Metropolitan State universities. I look forward to our next meeting." "The presentation I think went great. I enjoyed being introduced to everyone in the program and the binder I believe will help me throughout my transition for graduation and transfer." "The first meeting I’d definitely say was a huge SUCCESS! It left me feeling empowered, pumped, and ready to take on the rest of my time here at Normandale with a “I can do it” pride! The president seems like such a fantastic and amazing individual who goes above and beyond her duties to ensure everyone feels welcomed. She is truly an example of a successful woman and is such a role model. Richard, as always you sure know how to make an individual feel important and ready to take on any challenge! "This workshop was very helpful for me. I didn't have a resume before that day, so after I walked out with my notes I stated building it. I finished it and turned it in to a company for an internship. After two weeksI got a call for an interview, so then, I read all my notes and the PowerPoints they gave us about interview advice. I went to the interview and after I week they called me offering me the position. I think it was great! Nothing to improve!" "I found this workshop extremely helpful and completely relevant to my stage in life where I will be applying and interviewing a lot in the near future. I am so thankful for the three ladies that took the time to speak with is. They gave me so many helpful tips for my Resume and answering interview questions. I would not change anything in this workshop, it was splendid!" "Take Aways: How to write a good and bad resume The difference between and application and a resume Tips for a good interview and what not to do in an interview ALWAYS BE PREPARED!" " I had a good understanding on how to create a resume (due to resume workshops I have been to in the past), but this give me more of a standpoint on what to include and not to include in my resume, as well as what order they should be in. I believe that it helped having professionals actually there to give their inputs into what they find are great and bad resumes. (The resume workshops I was at in the past were just teachers helping out).I wouldn't change anything. The speakers were amazing and knew exactly what they were talking about." "Our third program activity was very enlightening, I really appreciate the banking advice and also learned some new things about financial aid and how the system works as far as receiving grants, and scholarships. What Torrion mentioned about the strength finder and understanding your strengths as a way to communicate with others, was also very useful. Overall, I am very grateful for the finish line program and the immense amount of resources that we have been provided. Thanks for all you're doing Richard!" "I appreciated how Jane went over the costs of going to a private school because In essence, you can get an education catered to small class sizes, teachers who care, a liberal arts curriculum, and research possibilities. This is incredible!!" "I think I got some good ideas as attending to stage 3. first, I only applied for one college since I thought it the perfect match for me; however, I am going to apply to another one. second, I never understand clearly about how the financial aids and all kind of scholarships work until I was explained in this meeting." "I really liked the activity where we got up and stood in the line. I think it was helpful to visually see the difference in what people's strengths and motivations are. I think it was very helpful to talk about the Strengths Finder test and know that different people are motivated differently. I think it will help me in the future in relating with and working with people in my personal life and my job. I also found all the specifics about financial aid and the specifics of loans versus scholarships versus financial aid, I have never understood all that before and it will be extremely helpful going into a four year university. One other thing I really liked about the session was when we celebrated everyone. It was so cool to see how everyone had different things to celebrate, everyone is at different points in their lives, but we can all come together and celebrate each other and our accomplishments!"
