      So how does plastic become clothing? The first step is for the plastic to be taken to arecycling center. There are bins at the center that have numbers on them. All the things that have been dropped off at the centerare then taken to a bigger center. Here, they are sorted again. Next, the bottles arecleaned and chopped into tiny pieces. These pieces are melted. Then the melted materialis forced through tiny holes in flat plates. This makes long, thin strands. After thesebecome hard, they are spun into long threads. The threads are then stretched. Thethreads are also wrinkled so that they will have the small curls or waves that naturalthreads and fibers have. These threads are then woven into cloth.
