The General Areas of Comprehensive Testing

1. Sprinting speed

2. Starting, stopping, cutting

3. Strength

4. Stride length

5. Flexibility

Sprinting Speed Sprinting speed is achieved through a

combination of stride rate and stride length. Tests used to analyze sprinting speed and

speed endurance are the 20yrd. Dash, 40, 60, 80-120yrd time, NASE repeated sprints, NASE first 3 step, and the flying 40 (stride rate/length)

Correct Sprint Posture:The classic forward lean, torso upright, head & shoulders above hips, ground contact with ball of foot.

Starting, Stopping, & Cutting

The NASE high speed directional change test

-Measures your ability to start, accelerate, execute high speed stops, backward and forward sprints, and a ninety degree cut.

Strength Strength in running , generally looking at

leg strength to body weight ratio Posterior Chain overlooked Assessments: Hamstrings Quads -leg extension test -single leg

kickbacks -leg curl test -deadlifts

Stride Length

Stride length is the distance between successive points of initial contact of the same foot. Right and left stride lengths are normally equal.

The NASE 3 Step Test

Flexibility

Range of Motion Injury Prevention Assessment: Sit and Reach The ankle, neck, elbow and wrist,

groin, trunk, hip, and shoulder

Explosive Power & Quickness Power is the product of strength and speed,

the ability to move maximal force in the shortest time possible.

Quickness is the ability to react and change body position with maximal rate of force production in all planes of motion

Assessments :(Power=p/Quickness=q)

-Standing triple jump(p) -Right Left Leg hops(p)

-Standing broad jump(p) -quick feet(q)
