The speaker for our October meeting will be Christian Keyes on Kaizen Event Planning. The board members hope that you will join us for an evening filled with camaraderie, good food, and an informative presentation at Gatto’s Restaurant, 8005 183rd St, Tinley Park, IL on October 18, 2011. Remember to make your reservation by Thursday, October 13, 2011, and note that the cost of the dinner meeting is $25.00. The presentation will provide a general overview regarding kaizen event planning. The following items will be discussed: 1) What is a Kaizen event? 2) When should you use a Kaizen event? 3) How do you plan for a Kaizen event? 4) What are the suggested steps when performing a Kaizen event? 5) How do you ensure the success of a Kaizen event?

Do you have an interesting presentation that highlights quality tools and techniques?

Do you have a presentation that deals with the challenges of today's quality profession?

Do you have success stories of quality projects such as six sigma or lean?

If the answer is yes, the ASQ Illiana Section 1213 is interested in hosting you as a speaker for our 2011-2012 program. General meetings are primarily held on the third Tuesday of each month. Presentation length may vary from 30 to 60 minutes. Educational presentations which are interactive and workshop style are highly desirable. Chris Keyes has spent the past year planning and implementing a series of Kaizen Events at the Smiths Medical site in Gary, IN. The Kaizen Events have been used throughout the facility for reducing waste in various assembly operations, molding operations, packaging operations, material handling operations, and documentation processes. Chris has 18 years of engineering / project management experience in a mixture of medical device manufacturing and automotive part manufacturing environments. He has been exposed to a diverse set of teams throughout his working career having been located in Indiana, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, as well as the UK, and Canada. Chris holds a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. Formal education has been supplemented via a Six Sigma Training program from the River Valley Community College in New Hampshire along with attaining Project Management Professional status from the Project Management Institute.
