This standard is available in public free nets, airports, coffee shops, major corporations and as well as many campuses already. However, 802.11b is shared 11megabit and not considered sufficient for multiuser multimedia.

• 3G and 4G mobile phone wireless is potentially revolutionary, but it is late in coming, very expensive, unproven and being quickly eclipsed in potential coverage by 802.11b. Current phone and pager technology is of limited use--such as email only--because it is slow and not always well distributed.
