As an Experienced Radio Planning and Optimisation Engineer you will provide Technical Support and Services to commercially deployed GSM, 3G and LTE telecommunications networks in the areas of RF Planning and Optimisation. You will plan radio networks and support roll-out of the networks, including troubleshooting of planning and radio issues during the deployment. You will also provide RF and Optimisation support to deployed networks. You will develop strategies and provide consultation to customers on improving network performance. You will be expected to take responsibility for the successful driving and completion of customer projects. This is a UK based role, so applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, and either be located there or willing to relocate.

Your responsibilities will include Radio planning and optimisation for 2G, 3G and 4G cell clusters in a Huawei network

Radio planning includes frequency planning, scrambling code planning etc

Radio optimisation includes cell and cluster level optimisation of newly integrated sites in order to achieve service levels necessary to hand over the sites to day to day operations of a mobile network operator

RF, RAN and Transmission network troubleshooting

Investigation and resolution of RF based network performance degradations

Investigation and resolution of configuration faults

Required Education/and ExperienceThe candidates will have completed radio planning and optimisation projects using Huawei network infrastructure.   Experience rolling out Huawei 2G, 3G and LTE networks

Deep knowledge of Huawei radio parameters

Huawei OSS, configuration management and parameter optimisation experience

Considerable experience in deploying and troubleshooting radio networks

Knowledge of phases in the RF planning life cycle – link budgeting, site selection, backhaul planning, RF propagation modelling, fine tuning and optimisation

Experienced with RF planning tools such as Atoll, Mentum Planet

Considerable experience working with operators, and an appreciation of what the issues are for network operators, combined with a demonstrated willingness to drive issues to resolution

An interest in telecommunications, demonstrated by previous roles

A Bachelor of Science or Engineering (Degree) in IT, telecommunications or equivalent, plus at least three years’ experience in the telecommunications industry

A solid team player with ability to lead others and yet work independently

Strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction

Flexible and adaptable to developing business needs and work patterns

Ability to work analytically and coordinate investigations. A problem solver

Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues

Have proven skills in technical document writing (status reports, technical bulletins)

Knowledge of operator tools used for Performance Management, Configuration Management, Network Optimisation and CRM

 

Desired Education/Experience Experience rolling out Ericsson, NSN or ALU 2G, 3G and LTE networks

Analysis of drive test logs, and ability to make recommendations based on the analysis

Experience and understanding of network protocols such as IP. (ATM and SS7 also an advantage)
