A. GeneralPurpose The ASOV (Auto Shut Off Valve) is a key component used in Reverse
Osmosis (RO) based Point-Of-Use (POU) drinking water treatment systems.
Scope The ASOV ( Auto Shut Off Valve) utilizes a diaphragm between the feed
water and treated water to control the flow of feed water into the treatment system.
NSF/ANSI STANDARD 58

* Feed water goes through a set of three pre filters (Sediment filter, Carbon filter, Carbon filter), passes through the ASOV and then goes to the RO membrane to produce RO water.
* The RO water passes through the system to be stored in the water tank. When the tank fills with RO water and the tank pressure reach to 40 psi the back pressure will reverse the ASOV diaphragm and will shut off due to the pressure differential.
* When the RO water end pressure is greater than the Feed water pressure, it causes the piston to move downward and shut off the in and out channel.
* When the ASOV In and Out channel shuts off, the system will
not produce any RO water.

G. ASOV NSF testing requirements1. Material Safety – Extraction test.
2. Structural Integrity – NSF/ANSI Standard 58 component certification requirements: a. Burst Pressure testing @ 400 psig b. Hydrostatic Pressure test @ 300 psig c. Cyclic Pressure test - 100,000 cycles @ 0 to 150 psig
3. Performance Testing a. Operating Cycle test I. 20,000 cycles to simulate use over a 10 year life II. Utilizes two inlet pressures – 30 psig and 100 psig. III. Utilizes back pressure regulator to simulate increasing back pressure of storage tank. Expect the ASOV to activate at 2/3 inlet line pressure and deactivate at 1/3 line pressure. Accuracy +/- 20% as determined by NSF. b. Leak test I. One Cycle testing is complete the ASOV is tested for 15 minutes at 100 psi to verify that no detectable amount of feed water is leached from the
feed water side to the treated water side over the course of the test.

I. Liquatec ASOV Factory Testing
Leak Test: 100% leak test on two channel (RO water and feed water) at 150psi pressure
Function Test: feed water pressure at 30psi - 60psi - 90psi, test for system on/off when RO tank increases/decreases pressure
Cyclic Test: pressure 0 ~ 150psi, test for 20,000 times
