INVITATION TO ASIANALYSIS XII

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to welcome you to the

Twelfth Asian Conference on Analytical Sciences (ASIANALYSIS XII), which will

be held on August 22-24, 2013 at the Centennial Hall Kyushu University School of

Medicine in Fukuoka, Japan. The Conference should provide a forum for the analytical

scientists to discuss their recent progress, to exchange the ideas and experiences on a

broad range of analytical sciences, and to promote international cooperation and

friendship.

The scope of this conference is to provide discussions on recent researches in the

field of analytical sciences. Although traditional analytical chemistry will be the core

of the conference, the interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research interaction and

mutual understanding of the Asian countries will be the most emphasized features of

ASIANALYSIS XII. We are specially expecting to have prosperous meeting.

Outstanding analytical scientists from many countries are to be invited to present

plenary and keynote lectures on a broad range of topics for the opening and each

session category of ASIANALYSIS XII. We hope that many scientists from not only

Asian countries but also all around the world will participate in ASIANALYSIS XII.

To promote cooperation and friendship and to facilitate discussions on analytical

■ CALL FOR PAPERS

Papers for oral and poster presentations are cordially invited on all aspects of analytical sciences. Oral presentation will be allotted a 15 min. including 5-min discussion, while poster presentation about 1.5 hours discussion. The size of a poster for poster presentation is 90 cm (horizontal) x 120 cm (vertical). The final program is placed under the organizing committee. It should be noted that, if excessive presenters request oral presentations, some papers might be rescheduled from oral to poster presentations because of insufficient lecture rooms.

■ HOW TO SUBMIT ASIANALYSIS XII requires that abstracts be submitted through the

ASIANALYSIS XII website (https://conv.toptour.co.jp/shop/evt/asianalysis). On-line submission of abstracts will be available until May 31, 2013. Abstracts submitted via e-mail, fax, or airmail will not be accepted. All abstracts must be submitted with the formatting requirements as follows. Abstract formatting instructions and an example of style are found in the website. INSTRUCTIONS

- Abstract(s) must be submitted in English. - Paper size should be A4 format. - The color of font is Black. - The figures can be provided in grayscale of colors. - Ensure there are no conversion errors, like foreign characters or mathematical

symbols. - Any abbreviations should be defined where first mentions. - Tables must be embedded in the abstract. - The document should not be password protected. - Please ensure your abstract in either .doc, .docx or .pdf file. No other formats

can be accepted. - Thoroughly check spelling and grammar. Abstracts will not be edited and

■ REGISTRATION

All participants of the conference are required to pre-register on the website. ASIANALYSIS XII will not accept registration and abstracts via fax, postal, e-mail or telephone. Except for invited speakers, all other participants must pay the registration fee. The full registration fee includes the welcome reception on 22th August and the banquet on 23th August. Please note that the deadline date for registration is 31st July, 2013. All payments have to be made in Japanese Yen (JYN) and can be done by Credit Card (VISA, MASTER. AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINERS, JCB, DC) on-line. Bank transfer and on-site payment cannot be accepted for any reason.

The Banquet will be held at a ship restaurant, “Mariera,” on the evening of 23th August. It introduces beautiful scenery of the Fukuoka Bay Area from above sea. The ship departs and arrives at Hakata Bayside Palace. Participants can uses complimentary shuttle service from the venue to Bayside Palace. Note that the banquet fee is included in the registration fee. ■ ACCOMMODATION

The Organizing Committee does not prepare special excursion. However, The booklets, “Fukuoka City Visitor’s Guide,” which are written in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese, are available. Please ask at the information desk. ■TRAVEL INFORMATION

All foreign visitors to Japan must possess a valid passport. Participants requiring a visa should apply to the Japan consular offices, as soon as possible to determine their particular visa requirements.

The nearest subway station to the venue is “Maidashi - Kyudai byoin mae” station (Subway Hakozaki Line). It takes about 25 minutes by subway from Fukuoka International Airport to “Maidashi - Kyudai byoin mae” station. It costs JYN 290 from “Fukuoka International Airport” station (SubwayAirport Line) to “Maidashi - Kyudai byoin mae” station. You have to change trains at “Nakasu-Kawabata” station. It takes 8 minites on foot from “Maidashi - Kyudai byoin mae” station to the venue, the Centennial Hall, Kyushu University. More information can be found in the following website.

■ CLIMATE The climate in Fukuoka from July through August is hot and humid, with the

average high temperatures at 88F / 31˚C and average low temperatures at 74F/23˚C. Participants are recommended to bring light summer clothing. The conference rooms and all major hotels are air-conditioned. ■ CURRENCY

The currency used in Japan is yen (JYN). Foreign currency or traveler’s checks can be exchanged to yen at major banks, hotels, or airports. Only Japanese yen is accepted at stores and restaurants. It is necessary to show your passport on exchanging traveler’s checks. Bills come in units of JYN 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000, and coins in units of JYN 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500. The approximate exchange rate for US$ 1 is around JYN 95 as of March, 2013 (rate changes daily). ■ TRAVELER’S CHECKS AND CREDIT CARDS

Traveler’s checks are not as popular in Japan as in some other countries. They are usually accepted only by leading banks and major hotels. Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Diners Club cards are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, and restaurants. ■ TAX AND TIPPING

There is no custom of individual tipping in Japan. Instead, a service charge will be included in the bill where applicable. A 5% sales tax applies to almost all consumer purchases made in Japan.
