Harvest Festival

Thank you so much for your generous donations

for harvest. Mr. Covey is delivering them to the

Basics Bank at Lymington today. They are a re-

markable organisation who have supported hun-

dreds of families who are going through very diffi-

cult times. We celebrated with poems and read-

ings from our year 5 children and singing beautiful

harvest hymns. Reverend David from Ashley

Baptist Church led our worship as well as leading

a sing-a-long with his guitar.

Year 3 Celebration of Learning

Our year 3 performed a range dance, movement and rhythms for their parents this

week in a celebration of their learning around ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance.’ Parents also got

an opportunity to look at the children’s books and admire the progress they have made

in such a short time.

As with all the learning in our

school, the topic links subjects

across the curriculum so that chil-

dren have an opportunity to write,

discuss personal and social

issues, create art and drama and look at

geography amongst other things as part

of their learning.

Thank you to those parents who could

come along and join in the celebration.

Pets as Therapy

We are very lucky that Mrs. Carey brings her dog

Jess in to school as part of the Pets as Therapy pro-

gramme. Many children benefit from the therapeutic

effect of petting and looking after Jess.

Mrs. Carey recently won a photo cushion (as seen

in the picture) in a competition where she had de-

scribed the fantastic work that she does with the

children and Jess.

Don’t forget the Halloween Disco tonight.

Lower School: 5.30pm — Upper School: 7.15pm

Year 4 visit to Butser Ancient Farm

The children in year 4 visited

Butser Ancient Farm this week

as part of their learning about

the Anglo-Saxons. The children

had a go at different practical

tasks like wattling (building a

fence or house wall with

hazel branches), writing runes

(Anglo-Saxon lettering) onto

chalk using green leaves to

make them stand out and archaeology, using trowels to uncover an-

cient and modern relics from the earth.

The children had a wonderful opportunity to immerse themselves into An-

glo-Saxon life and see first-hand

how Anglo-Saxons lived.

There will be a celebration of the

children’s learning on Thursday

9th November from 2.15pm—

3.15pm.

Samba Performance

Our amazing Samba Band stole the show

when they performed this week at the

Chairman’s Year of Music Celebration

Concert at Thornden School in

Chandlers Ford.

A range of musical performances from

different schools—infant, special and sec-

ondary included—was enjoyed by the au-

dience and Councillor Keith Chapman who

has initiated the Year of Music.

We are grateful to Mr. Thew for his

inspirational teaching and to the parents

who ensured we could get as many of the

band as possible to the event.

Did you receive the new HC3S

lunchtime menu this week? Christmas Lunch

this year will be on

Tuesday 19th

December

Please ensure all

dinner monies are

paid in full for the

start of the new term.

Make sure your child is safe online
