When she steps in a room, you feel the difference. She brings her positive spirit with her and patients and co-workers benefit. Ashita is very dedicated to the residents. She’s also patient and kind. She always wants the best for residents and pushes them to succeed. She does it with a smile and this is what helps win them over. Even when she gets overwhelmed, you would never know it. She keeps a calm demeanor and a smile. She is definitely a team player. She started working as a physical therapist at Beech Grove Meadows and later transferred to Valparaiso Care where she became RSM. She was nominated by both of these communities for a Quest for Excellence Award. The winning nomination at Williamsport makes it the third time a community has recognized her excellence. Ashita grew up in India. Her grandparents passed when she was very young, so she does not have a lot of memories of them from her childhood, she said. Working with the residents helps her visualize them, she said. “When I talk to my residents I feel this is how my grandparents would have been, too!”
