•Indonesia intends to set up the goal of making

electric vehicles account for a quarter of car

production by 2030.

•New Indonesian regulations will require all

electric vehicle manufacturers to gradually

increase their locally manufacturing share, with a

target of 80% in 2030, while electric vehicle

manufacturers will target 80% locally made in

2026.

•The government is fully supporting the electric

vehicle industry in order to reduce the country's

dependence on petrochemical fuel imports. On

the other hand, it also hopes to make good use of

the rich nickel ore reserves in the country. This is

one of the main materials for lithium batteries for

electric vehicles. Battery recycling company,

GEM from China and Hanwa from Japan have

invested in Indonesia for this potential opportunity.

•The leading OEM from China have

been active in the Indonesian market

since 2017.

•--In 2017, Wuling Motors invested

US $ 700 million in a plant in Cikarang,

West Java, which can produce

parts for Confero is made in Indonesia,

and Wuling has expanded local

dealers from 35 to 80, creating 3,000

jobs for the lndonesia.

•-In 2018, China DFSK invested US $

150 million in Indonesia, and plans to

build an engine plant in Indonesia.

DFSK also plans to increase the

number of dealers in Indonesia to 50.
