SPECTACULAR OPENINGFOR THAI WATER EXPO 2017‘Driving Sustainable Development through Innovation’

Day 2

SHOW DAILYSpectacular Regional Showcase of Water & Wastewater and Pumps & Valves Technology

Today, our water situation has become more critical than ever. With a steadily rising global population and increased demand from industry, private organizations and governments, concern about water and wastewater has never been higher.

The government has now established comprehensive measures for water and wastewater technology, plus development andmanagement.

The Provincial Waterworks Authority of Thailand (PWA) aims to ensure that clean water is used in a responsible manner and in conjunction with the provision of sustainable water sources.

The PWA of Thailand is currently transforming into PWA 4.0 in order to support the country’s development. This is in line with government policy to work and operate in conjunction with Smart Water Management. PWA is now introducing technologies and innovations to help aid organization management in various areas such as production that uses multiple computer systems. This will ensure that information is disseminated in a smart and timely manner.

PWA is planning to increase its efficiency for remote water quality monitoring (both with production and distribution processes). PWA is also in the process of establishing comprehensive measures for water management which is being created to ensure protection and adequate supplies for the future.

Thai Water Expo 2017 is an important event exclusively focused on water. The Provincial Waterworks Authority of Thailand is proud to be associated and supported with the show which is now the Region’s Leading International Exhibition of Water & Wastewater Technology. The show will greatly benefit Thailand, especially industrial sectors that count on Thai water to be pure and distributed safely and efficiently to both citizens and businesses throughout the country.

On behalf of the PWA, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation to UBM Asia (Thailand) for their professional expertise in making Thai Water Expo 2017 a resounding success. We look forwardto working with you again in the near future.

SHOW DAILYSpectacular Regional Showcase of Water & Wastewater and Pumps & Valves Technology

The Water Institution For Sustainability is part of the Council under the Federation of Thai Industries. It was established for water security because of the importance and amount of water being used in society today. Water conflicts in the community and the amount of good water and bad has caused the Federation to consider such issues as part of the initial cost of production. Water is a precious resource and is not available everywhere. The Institute main objective is to focus on water cover all aspects, including industry, farming, tourism and the community in general.

Our goal is to be an innovative organization with well managed, integrated and sustainable water management. The keywords here are innovation and integration. The work undertaken will focus on integration by network with the emphasis on innovation. One of the projects we are to promote is for factories to establish a ‘best practice’ along with ‘new trends.’

The Institute encourages industrial entrepreneurs to enhance their knowledge of water management and to transfer their water management technology to industrial entrepreneurs. We work as a Consultant and Intermediary between both the private and public sectors as well as for educational institutions. This enables the sectors to work as partners in critical water resource management overall.

The Institute has been working with UBM on issues involving the environment and also areas involving water management in general. At Thai Water Expo 2017, we have co-organized important road-shows that will take place prior to the actual show dates. This is in addition to Seminars relating to techniques and technologies in water management through-out the event. There will also be special exhibitions to promote Water Footprint.

In closing I would like to extend our appreciation to UBM Asia (Thailand) – the show organizer for successfully staging this important event for the benefit of Thai Industry and the Thai people.

A recent Frost and Sullivan report projects pump, valve and compressor sales in the ASEAN region to reach US $3.52 billion in 2019. The growth will be driven largely by the increased need for clean drinking water in the region and through continued investments in power generation, water and wastewater, and the food and beverage industries.

With continuing expansion in relevant industries and markets, the demand for pump and valve products in Thailand is reaching new heights – especially Food & Agriculture Products, Petrochemicals and the Building & Construction industry. Thailand’s food processing sector is also projected to expand significantly as domestic sales of processed foods & beverages grows along with stronger demand from retail and food service sectors. Increased investment and expansion in these industries is resulting in further demand for high-end, pumps, and valves.

Pumps & Valves Asia 2017

The increased demand for pumps and valves in Thailand is the result of two key factors: access to water supply and sanitation, and the need for repairs to ageing water infrastructure. More stringent environmental regulations, industrial and residential construction and rising standards of living are also continuing to drive growth for more sophisticated technology. Demographic forces have contributed to demand, which is being driven by population growth and rapid urbanization in the region. PUMPS & VALVES ASIA 2017 features many products and systems designed to meet these challenges. It’s an event you just can't afford to miss.

Singapore’s water industry is flourishing. Today, it is recognized as a ‘Global HydroHub’. With a growing emphasis on water and the environment worldwide, Singapore is well positioned to take global leadership as an innovator and provider of solutions in this industry.

SHOW DAILYSpectacular Regional Showcase of Water & Wastewater and Pumps & Valves Technology

On behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, I would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to UBM Asia (Thailand) the organizer, exhibitors, visitor, and everyone involved in making this outstanding event a mega success.

At present, our planet has been facing the adverse impact of global change especially climate change and degradation of natural resources and environment which have affected our natural resources and mankind as a whole in economic, social, and environmental aspects including water resources. According to the scientific reports, the water resources crisis in the 21st century is much more related to the availability, increased demand and deteriorating water quality as well as unsystematic water resources management. We, therefore, need a systematic and integrated approach for water management at all level. Sustainable Development Goal 16 is to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions. The integrated water management tool can be one of the most effective forms of confronting the problems of water scarcity, water stress and deteriorating water quality apart from the emphasis on public participation for water resources management conservation and rehabilitation.

“Water is life,” as His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has declared. Under the leadership of General Prayut Chan-ocha, The Royal Thai Government is well aware of the importance of integrating water resource management in a holistic manner in order to achieve the sustainability of water management. The government put utmost effort to apply the beloved King Rama 9’s philosophy reflected in water resources management to create a balance between socio-economic development and environmental protection.

The government adopted a 12-year water resource management strategy which integrates the work plans and budgets of all concerned agencies in order to avoid redundant project work plans. Formulated Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy was implemented, as well as a draft Water Act, which will provide a framework for handling all dimensions, quantitatively and qualitatively of water resource management. In fact, Thailand would implement integrated water resource management at three levels. Firstly, water source management will be emphasized on watershed and forests rehabilitation and preventing soil erosion. Secondly, water consumption will be focused on reducing unequal access to water at all sectors and lastly, waste water management. Accordingly, the Thai government has adopted high-efficiency technology for increasing effective water management, maximizing water use, and preventing and reducing risks from water-related disasters. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, as important policy driven of the government in the area of water, takes a very serious action to push forward all water policy management to achieve SDGs by using proper knowledge, technologies and mobilizing resources.

Thai Water Expo 2017, a unique and special water-related event in the region, is the perfect venue to explore great opportunities to expedite and encourage sustainable water management in Thailand and ASEAN. The exhibition will provide a wide range of water and waste water technologies along with equipment and consultant services that offer immediate and solutions to water challenges. We hope that all visitors will enjoy and get the most benefit from the Expo more or less. Finally, I wish the Thai Water Expo 2017 a success.
