    General information

    The ArTu distribution sw itchboards are enriched by the new L series for

    applications up to 630A , w hich w idens the ABB offer in the secondary

    and term inal distribution sector: a series able to com bine quality

    perform ances w ith m axim um selection and assem bly sim plicity.

    sw itchboards, also facilitates configuration, estim ation and

    prep aration of the docu m en ts to be enc losed w ith the

    sw itchboards once they have b een cabled and tested for the

    new L series.

    The ArTu L range has tw o versions, w all-m ounted and floor-

    m ounted, consisting of m doular kits able to be adapted to very

    different requirem ents.

    The quality of the m aterials used and the attention paid to detail

    rem ain the sam e, as does com patibility of the accessories, w hich

    are com m on to the other tw o M and K ranges and ensure the

    w idest versatility of use. The D M B W in techn ical softw are,

    developed especially for the A rTu seco ndary distribution

    B oth m odular apparatus of the p ro MS ystem series, and

    m oulded -case Tm ax T1-T2-T3 and Isom ax S4 and S5 (fixed

    version w ith front term inals) circuit-breakers are housed inside the

    sw itchboards, w ith a capacity of 24 m odules per row . Apart from

    in the traditional versions (plain and pre-drilled) w ith 200 m m height,

    the m odular panels in the new series are also available in the 150

    m m height, w hich allow s optim isation of the space available for

    circuit-breakers and cables.

    Sturdiness and practicality

    The ArTu L sw itchboards are extrem ely sturdy. The pickled sheet

    structure they are m ade of has a thickness of 15/10 (bottom profile

    and door) and 12/10 (structure).The m odular kits m ean different com binations can be built up,

    C ab ling becom es sim pler, thanks to the structure w hich is

    com pletely open on all sides: w ith the sw itchboard dism antled, it

    is possible to carry out cabling easily in the w orkshop or on site,

    placing the sw itchboard horizontally on trestles.The kit for fixing the circuit-breakers further sim plifies the job, thanks

    lim iting the overall dim ensions to a depth of just 200 m m . In the

    w all-m ounted version, the sw itchboards can also be placed side

    by side laterally.

    to the practical rapid snap-on hooking up system and the

    standardised sm all item s. The U nifix H and L cabling system is

    also the best solution for cabling the A B B SAC E circuit-breakers

    inside the ArTu L sw itchboards.

    Technical-functional characteristics

    Lateral access is guaranteed, as the possibility of m ounting the

    vertical w iring duct both on the right and on the left. The w iring

    duct can also be positioned horizontally.

    The cable riser container available w ith a w idth of 300m m is ableto take the different busbar system s. The box, to be placed above

    the sw itchboard roof, increases the space available for the incom ing

    cables and, together w ith the distribution fram e, m akes distribution

    sim pler.

    The 400 and 800A certified system of shaped profile busbars is

    also availab le for the L series sw itchboards, w ith prefab ricated

    connections betw een circuit-breakers and busbars. Traditional flat

    busbars can be used. The degree of protection goes from IP31,

    for the versions w ithout door, up to IP43 for the versions w ith door.

    The m axim um form of segregation w hich can be obtained is type 2.

    Flexible wiring ducts

    The A rTu sw itchboards have undergone the type tests foreseen by the C EI EN 60439-1 (C EI 17/13-1 3 rdedition) Standards in the A B B

    laboratories. The results of these tests guarantee the perform ances of the A rTu sw itchboards and, by using the m etalw ork structures,

    AB B SAC E air, m odular and m oulded-case circuit-breakers, m ean that the end sw itchboard constructor does not have to carry out any

    further type tests by follow ing the selection criteria and the assem bly instructions for the various com ponents. These results, w hich are

    indicated below , can be referred to for m aking out the d eclaration of conform ity of the sw itchboard.

    Handling by means of a bridge crane

    For hand ling by m eans of a crane or bridge crane, before lifting

    the sw itchboard check that the follow ing conditions are present:excellent state of the ropes or chains;

    the angle betw een the lifting ropes and the roof of the

    sw itchboard m ust be 45;

    m axim um num ber of colum ns w hich can be transported: 3;

    m axim um w eight w hich can be lifted as per DIN 580 S tandard (M 8).

    W hen there are several colum ns placed side by side, to respect

    the above-m entioned cond itions, a lifting beam w ith appropriatecharacteristics can be used.

    The EN 60439-1 S tandard indicates the m ethods for calculating

    the PE protection conductor cross-section w hich m ust be suitablysized to w ithstand the therm al and dynam ic com ponents of the

    fault currents.

    W hen identifying the busbar fixing position, check there are the

    follow ing conditions:

    the busbar m ust be connected directly to the earthed parts of

    the sw itchboard (structure);

    the busbar m ust be connected in an easily accessible position.

    Equipotentiality

    The accessible conductive parts of a device, w hich cannot be

    connected to the protection circuit by m eans of their ow n

    connecting m eans, m ust be connected to the protection circuit of

    the ap paratus for eq uipotentiality protection by m eans of an

    equipotential conductor, w hose cross-section m ust be selected

    according to the table given below .

    PEN conductor

    The cross-section of the PEN conductors of a piece of apparatus

    m ust be determ ined using the sam e procedure follow ed for the

    neutral conductor (N ).

    The m inim um cross-section of a copp er conductor m ust be

    10m m 2. The PEN conductor does not need to be insulated. Parts

    of the structure m ust not be used as a PEN conductor. H ow ever,

    the assem bly rails,m ade of copper or alum inium , can be used as

    PEN conductors. For the conductors not m ade of copper, the

    above-m entioned cross-sections are replaced w ith equivalent

    conductivity cross-sections, w hich can req uire larger sized

    term inals.

    The conductors must be connectedindividually.

    For sizing, use the values in the table, taken from the
