NEWS BY THE ART SENSE WORKING GROUPS IN THIS ISSUE

Firstly I would like to take thisopportunity to acknowledge theElders, Traditional Owners andthe Island communities ArtSense currently operates in.

The initial Art Sense team is stillon deck after nearly 6 monthsincorporating all 36 staff fromCoconut, Hammond, Mabuiag,Masig, Murray, Saibai, Thursday,Warraber and Yam Islands. Given

the complexities of setting up anew program this large it makesme proud personally that theentire team is still together.

Id like to thank the Art Senseteam for accepting VanessaGoggin in taking over the ArtSense management role. By allreports there is a strongconnection between all theteams and Vanessa.

2012 is looking very encouragingin many ways; tailored trainingspecific to each Art Sense staffmember has been endorsed byCEA and will be rolled out in thefirst half of next year. With therecent commencement of a CEACommunity Development Officer

a more streamlined materialsupply and mentoring processhas been implemented for thearts and crafts working groups.

Art Sense is a business that setout to empower the Torres StraitWorking Groups in terms ofmaking localised decisions onworking group operations andsustainability in the art sector.

    The future of the Arts

Engagement Strategy centers onour staffs constructive feedback, loyalty and commitment.

Merry Christmas and a happynew year!
