ABOUT THE LOCK IN
The Artist Lock In, now in its fifth year, is the flagship residencyproduced by ArtHouse Jersey in partnership with WildWorks.We are seeking artists from all backgrounds and disciplines toapply for this inspiring experience. Facilitated by Sue Hill (Wildworks, Eden Project), artists willspend 10 days living and working together, learning from eachother’s practice and responding to the natural environment.Away from the distractions of everyday life, the Lock Inencourages an atmosphere in which to explore newapproaches and different styles of making. This is a supported opportunity to fill your lungs with fresh seaair, step out of your comfort zone and collaborate with artistsfrom across the globe without the pressure of a deadline orexpectation of a fully finished outcome. For the first time, the Artist Lock In will take place at Greve DeLecq Barracks, ArtHouse Jersey’s new home. In a sheltered bayon the North coast of Jersey, Greve De Lecq Barracks willbecome your playground for the duration of the residency.Dating from 1810 the Barracks are in close proximity to coastalpaths, beaches and woodland making it the perfectenvironment to rewild your practice. We are particularly interested in hearing from artists who arekeen to explore what our role might be in shaping our futureand how the arts can have a positive impact in a rapidlychanging environment.

GREVE DE LECQ BARRACKS
The Lock In is a rustic experience with most of the time spentoutside making work in the landscape. Participants should beprepared to brave the elements and get dirt beneath theirfingernails. We are interested in hearing from artists of all disciplines andbackgrounds. You must be over the age of 18 and professionallycommitted to your craft. The residency will be facilitated in English so you will be required tohave a confident working understanding of the language. This is an international multi-disciplinary residency. We ask forartists to be open minded and have a generous attitude towardsworking with others. Artists are required to travel to Jersey at their own expense or at theexpense of a cultural organisation of their home jurisdiction.Participants must make necessary travel arrangements to arrive atGreve De Lecq Barracks, Jersey at 15:00 on Sunday 22nd Septemberand depart on Tuesday 1st October 2019. Interested Artists are asked to apply by filling out the followingapplication form and up to 4 examples of their work (as digital files)by email to Francesca Duncan ([email protected]) by 18:00 (GMT+1)on Monday 31st May 2019.
