    ABOUT HAKANA

Hakana features a live solo dancer surrounded by a landscape of moving digital images. Interacting with this magical environment, the dancer is also acted upon by the moving images. She pushes, and lines fold; she whirls, and a "curtain" of light billows up; she crouches, and dots of light "rain" down. Boundaries are blurred as the real world intersects with the virtual one.

"Everything is generated and animated in real time. No recorded video. Everything is live,"explains Claire B.

The imaginary landscapes of Hakana are created using one dancer, digital images brought to life by a digital performer, and a soundscape mix of electronic music, live music and environmental sounds. The audience experiences the performance from three sides, seated around the cube when the dancer enters. As the digital images appear, surrounding the dancer, she is enveloped and Hakana becomes both a dance composition and a digital installation.
