The 3 “C”s of design:

-Composition: color / contrast / spacing, etc…-Components: shapes / lines / groups / images, etc…-Concept: happy vs sad / fancy vs simple / fun vs simple /

“The Composition of Components to convey a Concept to an Audience”

Design is a crucial bridge that exists between the creative impulse & an idea that is then converted into social & economic impact

Design has to have that TRANSFORMATIONAL capability so that it becomes a journey that will take you into new business models, services, new ideas

It’s a BRIDGE

Page 20: ART200 Theories of Art

20

-Briefing-Scoping & Orientation (understanding phase)-Concept generation (exploring ideas)-Design development (refine those ideas into actual designs)-Implementation (put those designs into production)

It’s a PROCESS

“Design is the human power of conceiving, planning, and making products that serve human beings in the accomplishment of their individual & collective purposes”. Bruce Mau

Marriage of form & meaning with functionality & usability.

It’s a POWER
