User Inputs For ART®Pyramids(Pyramid Trading Point®)

Load the ART®Pyramids for eSignal to display the“Pyramid Trading Point®” on your chart.

The ART®Pyramids indicator has several formulaparameter variable “User Inputs” that provide an extradegree of control over its behavior. This allows youto color “Icons” and “Text” to suit your needs. All“User Inputs” can be left at their default values asshown.

There are two methods to access and edit the formulaparameters of the ART®Pyramids.

1.) The first method is to CLICK on the greycolored box on the lower left hand side of theeSignal chart that says ARTPTP. This willactivate the “Edit ART® Pyramid Settings”window. You will then be able to input yourdesired “User Input” variables.

ART®PyramidsDaily. You will then be able toinput your desired “User Input” variables.

n GraphicOffsetLength – Default value is 5This value adjusts the “Icons” for the reversal signalsup/down so they are not drawn over the price action.

n ShowIcons – Default value is TRUEIf TRUE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system toshow “Icons” for the CONFIRMED “PyramidTrading Point®” patterns.

If FALSE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system tohide the “Icons”.

n ShowPivots – Default value is FALSEIf FALSE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system tohide the “Pivot Graphics”.

If TRUE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system toshow the ART® “Pivots” (Peaks and Valleys) thatmake up the “Pyramid Trading Point®” patterns.

If ShowPivots is set to TRUE, then additionalRED/GREEN squares will be shown on the chart toindicate where POTENTIAL “Pivots” were located. These POTENTIAL “Pivots” show where “Peaks andValleys” were identified by the ART® trading system.

NOTE: These signals DO NOT represent an ART®

“Pyramid Trading Point®” or ART®Reversals.

Page 13: ART Software Users Guide

n MinScore – Default value is 5This variable is used to calculate the score of theconditions that make up the “Peaks and Valleys” usedto identify the “Pyramid Trading Point®” patterns.

This is a numeric input with a range of values from“0” to “8”. This input controls how “Well Formed”the Pyramids must be before they are selected as a“Pyramid Trading Point®”.

Increasing the MinScore value will cause the ART®

“Pyramid Trading Point®” system to identify only thehigher scoring “Peaks and Valleys”. Lowering thisvalue will cause the ART® “Pyramid Trading Point®”system to identify lesser scoring “Peaks and Valleys”.

Setting this to “1” will result in “Major PyramidTrading Points®” being identified that are lessconstrictive in nature, while a setting above “5” willbe more constrictive.

Under perfect conditions, the HIGHS and LOWS ofthese bars would ascend smoothly up and down like this:

ART® For eSignal Page 7

“Perfect Pyramid”

Score “8”NOTE: This diagram is for illustrative purposes only.

Page 14: ART Software Users Guide

The following pyramids would get scores of “7”, “6”,and “5” respectively, because the shape of thepyramid gets progressively more ragged as theHIGHS and LOWS fall out of line.

The Min-Score input controls the minimum score andtherefore how “Well-Formed” a “Pyramid TradingPoint®” must be before it is selected by the software.

In practice, a value of “0” is very tolerant and it willallow many small pyramids. A value of about “4”,“5”, or “6” seems to work best. Values of “7” and “8’are very selective, and so there are only a fewqualifying points. This leads to some fairly largepyramids.

n vSound – Default value is ALL (which is On)This value determines the “Sound” features within theART®Pyramids system.

When On (or set to ALL) the ART®Pyramids systemwill generate sounds (tones) for ART®Pyramidssignals on the charts.

When Off (or set to OFF), the ART®Pyramids systemwill NOT generate any sounds or tones forART®Pyramids patterns.

Users can select P Only or MP Only to produce tonesonly when “P” (Primary) or “MP” (Minor), “PyramidTrading Point®” patterns form on the chart.

NOTE: P= Primary “Pyramid Trading Point®”MP= Minor “Pyramid Trading Point®”

n vVoice – Default value is OFFThis value determines the “Voice” technologyfeatures within the ART®Pyramids system. A settingof MALE will generate Male voices for allART®Pyramids signals. A setting of FEMALE willgenerate Female voices for all ART®Pyramids signals.

When On (a setting of MALE or FEMALE) theART®Pyramids system will generate voice tones for“Pyramid Trading Point®” signals on the charts. WhenOff (or set to OFF), the ART®Pyramids system willrevert to the vSound input for any tone generationfeatures.

n PotentialPTPColor - Default value is YELLOWThis value determines the color of all PRE-CONFIRMED “Pyramid Trading Point®” lines, shapes and images, known as POTENTIAL “PyramidTrading Points®”.

n PTPColorBars - Default value is TRUEIf TRUE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system tocolor the price bars based on the CONFIRMED“Pyramid Trading Point®” patterns.

If FALSE, this forces the ART®Pyramids system notto color the price bars, but instead defaults to theeSignal price bar color settings. When you load theART®ColorBars program on your chart, it willoverride the PTPColorBars TRUE or FALSEselection.

ART®Pyramids Program Operation

The ART®Pyramids program file operates in aspecific manner that is important to understand.

“Pyramid Trading Point®” formations are drawn asYELLOW POTENTIAL pyramids when they are in aPRE-CONFIRMED or PRE-VOIDED state. Most ofthe NEW “Pyramid Trading Points®”(on the right sideof the chart) will appear in YELLOW until they areCONFIRMED or VOIDED.

Once these YELLOW pyramids are CONFIRMED,they will change colors (to either RED or GREEN)and a “P” (Primary) or “MP” (Minor) label will beassigned to them. These CONFIRMED “Pyramid

Trading Points®” are signals that have resulted in apotential trading action (Buy or Sell).

If a YELLOW pyramid is VOIDED (does not result ina trading action), then it will disappear from the chart.Only CONFIRMED pyramids will remain on the chart.

n v2BRevType – Default value is AGGRESSIVEThis input determines a CONSERVATIVE orAGGRESSIVE mode for the ARTTwo-BarReversals. A CONSERVATIVE setting will causefewer ART®Reversals to be labeled, but they shouldhave a higher probability of success.

n vSound – Default value is TRUE (which is on)This value determines the “Sound” technologyfeatures within the ART®Reversals system.

When TRUE (or on) the ART®Reversals system willgenerate sounds (tones) for reversal signals on thecharts. When FALSE (or off), the ART®Reversalssystem will not generate any sounds or tones forreversal patterns.

n RunMode – Default value is QUICKThis value determines the “LookBack” feature of theART®Reversals system. Setting this value to QUICKwill cause the ART®Reversals system to NOT scanthe entire chart for ART®Reversals patterns. Usingthis mode, the ART®Reversals system attempts tooperate in a “quick mode” to prevent excessive CPUusage. The default mode QUICK is ideal for Day-Traders.

Setting the RunMode value to LONG will cause theART®Reversals system to scan the entire chart forART®Reversals patterns. Using this mode, theART®Reversals system may take some additionaltime to complete its calculations and present theinformation on the chart. Longer charts will cause theART®Reversals system to take a longer time to finishits calculations. This mode, LONG, is ideal forreviewing historical price formations.

n MinFormation - Default value is 3If the Ideal is set to TRUE, then this variable is deactivated.Ideal setting must be set to FALSE to use this function.

This is a numeric input with a range of values from“0” to “8”. This input controls how “Well Formed”the pyramids must be before they are selected as a“Pyramid Trading Point®”.

Under perfect conditions, the HIGHS and LOWS ofthese bars would ascend smoothly up and down like this:

The following pyramids would get scores of “7”, “6”,and “5” respectively, because the shape of thepyramid gets progressively more ragged as theHIGHS and LOWS fall out of line.

The MinFormation input controls the minimum scoreand therefore how “Well Formed” the “Pyramid TradingPoint®” must be before it is selected by the software.

In practice, a value of “0” is very tolerant and it willallow many small pyramids. A value of about “4”,“5”, or “6” seems to work best. Values of “7” and “8”are very selective, and so there are only a fewqualifying points. This leads to some fairly large pyramids.

n Use Tones - Default value is TRUESound setting set to tones for the “Pyramid TradingPoint®” entry and exit signals.

n UseMansVoice - Default value is FALSESe t t o TRUE and se t UseTones andUseWomansVoice to FALSE for Man’s Voicesetting. This sets a Man’s Voice for the “PyramidTrading Point®” entry and exit signals.

n UseWomansVoice - Default value is FALSESet to TRUE and set UseTones and UseMansVoice toFALSE for Woman’s Voice setting. This sets aWoman’s Voice for the “Pyramid Trading Point®”entry and exit signals.

n BearishVoidColor - Default value is DARKGRAYVOIDED BEARISH “Pyramid Trading Point®” willbe colored a dark gray. This value can be changed asthe user desires based on their chart background

color. To hide al l VOIDED pyramids, set theVoidColor to the same color as the chartbackground.

ARTPyramids Program Operation

The ARTPyramids program file operates in a specificmanner that is important to understand.

These CONFIRMED “PyramidTrading Points®” are signals that have resulted in apotential trading action (Buy or Sell).

If a YELLOW pyramid is VOIDED (does not resultin a trading action), then it will disappear from thechart. Only CONFIRMED pyramids will remain onthe chart.

NOTE: In fast moving markets, there may not beenough time to label a POTENTIAL pyramidYELLOW. In a case like this, a CONFIRMEDGREEN or RED “Pyramid Trading Point®” will formwithout warning.
