ABOUT THE CURATOR:It’s Robb Jamieson’s second year as Art POP’s Curator. He has a BFA in Sculpture from Concordia, an MFA from Gold-smiths College, London, and has exhib-ited widely around the world, with a !rst solo exhibit in 2015 at Galerie Laroche / Joncas in Montreal.

THE VISION OF ART POPAs the visual arts component of POP Montreal, Art POP continues to showcase work by some of the most exciting contemporary artists working today. Celebrating this year its 12th edition, Art POP seeks to present and help facilitate new ideas and collaborations between artists and organizations from Montreal, Canada and abroad.

Each year, the programming is approached in new and creative ways through exhibitions, site-speci!c installations, performances, screenings, and talks, most of which are free and open to the public. Art POP utilizes an array of venues, from community-run spaces to established institutions, such as the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (MACM), the DHC/ART Gallery, The PHI Centre, Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), and the Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT).

One of Art POP’s key goals is to feature internationally known !gures while ensuring the participation of local artists. Some notable names have included Phil Collins, Damon & Naomi, Elizabeth Price, Dan Graham, Vincent Morisset, lucky dragons, Vito Acconci, Koudlam, Marcel Dzama, The Raincoats, Alexander Gutke and Cyprien Gaillard. Art POP’s programming and events attract a demographic of music loving festivalgoers while maintaining a dialogue with the contemporary art world.

POP Montreal is also thrilled to have initiated an annual intensive workshop with the youth group from LOVE (Leave Out Violence) to help empower those who come from a background of violence. Each year, a collaboration is facilitated between the youth and an established artist and displayed under the Art POP banner. The result is a large scale art-piece installed on the outside of POP Montreal’s festival HQ for all to enjoy.
