We’ve invested in technology, how is helping our bottom line?

Page 3: Art History 101 Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. 10010

It really depends...

• The effective integration of technology depends on meeting the learning objectives of the lesson

• The level of technology integration often mirrors the level of understanding we are aiming for (Blooms Taxonomy of learning).

• Access to resources, relationship of the teacher to the technology, assessment tools, time, in-class support, student relationship to technology, discipline issues, teacher pedagogy, etc...

Discuss the underlying educational principles that might influence your design plan for the instructional materials and/or activities.

• Education drives technology

• Learning objectives define instructional methodology

• A different way of guiding the student towards knowledge

Page 12: Art History 101 Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. 10010

How you would present your ideas to the teacher?

• Face to face

• Small group meetings

• Peer instruction

• Every few weeks a departmental “what’s new with technology meeting”

Navigate and negotiate through fear

Questions?

Page 14: Art History 101 Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. Bill MacKenty, M.Ed. 10010

I’m curious...• Institutional history integrating technology:

successes and challenges

• Indicators for success?

• What is support like?

• What does technology deployment look like?

• Security?

• Access? Student technology demographic. Faculty technology demographic.
