ABOUT THE ARTISTS
ANTHONY GADD
Both artists are full-time professional artists with over 30 years’ experience between them and currently exhibiting in a number of galleries.
Artist’s StatementI am inspired by the magic that comes from my hands. This almost alchemical process motivates a never-ending search for fresh marks and meaning on the canvas. I don’t think artists completely control the meaning of their work. Meaning somehow accrues. From The Collector’s Guide to Art and Artists 2014.
About AnthonyTrained as a graphic artist, Anthony worked in advertising for 28 years, owning his own agency. His passion however was art and so in 2005 he turned to art full-time.
Originally from the Eastern Cape, Anthony studied and worked for the most part in Cape Town. His work has appeared in a number of publications and he has exhibited in many joint and solo exhibitions, the most recent being at Lindy van Niekerk gallery, in a joint exhibition with Derrick van Rensburg.
ANN GADD
Artist’s StatementI use wordplay and popular jargon to explore deeper issues relevant to our society. I enjoy getting people to laugh, like the court jesters of old, who through humour were able to say what others could not. From The Collector’s Guide to Art and Artists 2014.
Ann is a vibrant and prolific artist and author of 16 published books, including How to make your art work and Making your art work.
She is most known for her ‘ewe/sheep’ series of work. A reoccurring theme in her work is a play on words and use of popular jargon.
Ann has an exceptionally rich spectrum of professional and personal experience, abilities and talents to draw from. Her overall expression is one of change through consciousness and creation.
Ann spent nearly two decades as a Commercial Artist/Creative Director in advertising before leaving the corporate world, to become a teacher/facilitator of art workshops for corporates and individuals for eight years and an artist and author.
She has participated in a large number of group and solo exhibitions both locally and abroad and her paintings hang in international and local collections. She is currently one of South Africa’s bestselling artists.

ABOUT THE ESTATE
RIckETY BRIDGEThe Franschhoek wine estate, Rickety Bridge, has a winemaking history dating back to the 17th century. It was once part of the original La Provence farm granted to the first French Huguenots who settled in Oliphantshoek and renamed the area, Franschhoek. Over the years La Provence was subdivided and in 1797 the land which is now known as Rickety Bridge wine estate was granted to the widow, Paulina De Villiers. Rickety Bridge wine estate is situated less than 3 kilometres from the centre of the quaint Franschhoek town and nestles against the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains overlooking the majestic Wemmershoek Mountain range. This position gives the estate a range of aspects and soil types for growing different varieties of grapes.
The lower flatland of the estate is covered by sandy soils being close the Franschhoek River which crosses in front of the estate’s lower border. The hillside provides the wine estate with decomposed granite soils which are ideal for growing high quality red grapes required for producing premium red wine. Rickety Bridge wine estate is 50 Hectares in area of which only 15 Hectares are currently dedicated to vineyard, with a further 6 hectares under development. The remaining 35 Hectares are made up of buildings, dams and pine forest. Rickety Bridge wine estate is a popular destination in the Cape winelands with a long winemaking history, although reminiscent of the past, and nostalgic and timeless; this estate is also all things new’ and all thing delectable’ and all things sublime’. This historic wine estate boasts a myriad of facets to offer the discerning consumer. Rickety Bridge wine estate offers a superb restaurant, wedding facilities and packages, and has both conferencing and luxury accommodation offerings.
