If time permits, we will travel first to Toledo, the old capital of Castille. Set atop a hill and surrounded on three sides by the Tagus River, this UNESCO World Heritage Site majestically overlooks the surrounding area. Our walking tour will include many highlights – the steep cobbled streets dating back to the Middle Ages, the breathtaking Cathedral with its 750 stained glass windows and superb collection of El Greco paintings, the Church of Santo Tome with El Greco’s painting The Burial of Count Ortiz and the spectacular views over the River Tagus. Highlights of our morning city tour will include the Royal Palace, official office of King Felipe VI, and the Cathedral of Almudena. We will drive the grand boulevard of Gran Via and walk through the heart of the old city, from Puerta del Sol to Plaza Mayor.
