London is home to the UK’s most renowned galleries and museums – Tate Modern, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum; great sporting venues - Wembley Stadium, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Lord’s; the renowned West End theatres and an unprecedented number of world famous sights and attractions.
Your students will have the chance to visit a wide number of them and take part in specialist educational programmes, which will all provide new experiences that will stimulate and inspire them. Our range of educational programmes and visits for Art and Design students will ensure that they gain the maximum benefit from their time away and return with a real understanding of art and design in London.
In addition to visiting the vast number of permanent exhibitions on display in London, your Study Experiences Programme Manager is able to arrange admission to specific touring exhibitions that are held at London’s world renowned museums and galleries.
Study Experiences London trips are available throughout the year. We recommend our 2 and 3 day trips to ensure that you have enough time to explore the capital and to visit everything your students would want to see.
Both the 2 and 3 day trips include a sightseeing and orientation tour of London in the company of your Study Experiences Tour Manager. The tour will last around two hours and will take in many of London’s world famous landmarks. From the comfort of your coach, you will see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, Whitehall, Piccadilly Circus and Hyde Park, as well as many more great sights!
To ensure that you make the most of your trip to London your Programme Manager is able to arrange a wide choice of educational visits, activities, workshops, excursions, theatre shows and dining options. Full details of everything you might wish to see and do are available in our London ‘Educational Visits and Attractions’ Guide. The most popular visits and excursions include the London Eye, Thames river cruise, Wembley Stadium Tour, the Natural History Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition, the Imperial War Museum and the Science Museum.
A firm favourite with student groups, the London Eye offers breathtaking views of London from high above the River Thames. You will see Big Ben towering above the Houses of Parliament and be able to follow St James Park as it sweeps down to Buckingham Palace. As you travel round in one of the 32 high-tech glass capsules and enjoy the London skyline, you can use the interactive touch screen guides to pick up key information on the world famous landmarks as they pass into view.
Your Programme Manager can also pre-book meals for your group at a range of restaurants in central London, and for convenience they can arrange packed lunches. From the tried and tested Pizza Express to the glitz and glamour of Planet Hollywood, your Study Experiences Programme Manager will be able to provide you with their recommendations to suit your itinerary, budget and dietary requirements.
From our wide range of educational experiences we recommend:

Tate BritainThe national gallery of British art. The Collection comprises British art from the year 1500 to the present day. Special attention is given to Blake, Turner and Constable from the Romantic age. The Tate Britain offers a wide range of talks, lectures and seminars to assist with educational visits.

Paris has so much to offer visiting students, with world-class galleries housing masterpieces from famous artists, and some of the most impressive architecture in the world reflected in the design of its museums and iconic landmarks.
Art & Design in Paris
The French capital really needs no introduction. Its renowned attractions – the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Champs Elysées, Sacré Coeur – are amongst the world’s best loved and most photographed, while her museums – the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée Picasso – are amongst the most visited and most cherished. The city’s grand boulevards and the narrower streets of the lesser-known quartiers reveal a new delight at every step, plus our included city sightseeing and orientation tour is an excellent opportunity for you and your students to familiarise yourselves with all there is to see and do.
When it comes to exploring the city, consider starting at Paris’ historic island heart, the Ile de la Cité, where the exquisite church of Saint-Chapelle and the ancient prison, the Conciergerie, are all that remain of a once great palace. Here you will also find the fabled Notre Dame Cathedral, one of Europe’s finest gothic masterpieces. From there you can head in any direction and discover Paris’ spectacular sights – the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Sacré Coeur and the Louvre, to name a few!
In addition to these renowned sights of the French capital, other recommended visits include Tour Montparnasse, where from its 56th floor you can enjoy a spectacular 360° panoramic view over Paris, or take a boat trip along the River Seine. The hour long cruise provides a popular but also relaxing way to experience some of the City of
Light’s prestigious monuments and grand buildings from a unique vantage point either by day or night, and with a departure point from the Eiffel Tower you can also take in this iconic landmark.
You may like to head out of the city and visit Giverny or Versailles. Claude Monet was passionate about gardening and designed his flower garden and water garden at Giverny as genuine works of art. His former home is now a museum where reproductions of his paintings are displayed. The residence of the kings of France from Louis XIV to Louis XVI, Chateau de Versailles, houses the Royal Apartments, including the Hall of Mirrors and bedchambers of the King and Queen, as well as the apartments of Louis XV’s daughters and heir to the throne. The extensive gardens, the Grand and Petit Trianon and Marie Antoinette’s hamlet are also well worth a visit during your time in Versailles.
From our wide range of educational experiences we recommend:
Musée National du LouvreHome to the Mona Lisa, the Louvre is vast and unmissable. The collections are divided among eight curatorial departments: Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; Prints and Drawings; Egyptian Antiquities; near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art.
Musée d’OrsayThe Musée d’Orsay is located in the centre of Paris, on the banks of the Seine. Originally a train station, the museum features art from the period 1848 to 1914 throughout 80 separate galleries, with works by Delacroix, Degas, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Cezanne, Van Gogh and many others.
Eiffel TowerAs the tallest structure in Paris the Eiffel Tower dominates the city’s skyline. An iron lattice tower it was erected in 1889 as the entrance arch to the World’s Fair held that year. Although initially criticised by artists and intellectuals of the day it is probably Paris’ best-known landmark. The 2nd floor is perfect for making a photographic study of Paris. To view the structure as a whole we recommend visiting the Observation Deck at Montparnasse Tower 56. Or, for a 'ground' view at night go to the Place du Tracadero.
Montmartre & Sacré CœurAn officially designated historic district, Montmartre is one of the most colourful neighbourhoods in Paris, so it's no surprise that this area is a favourite with visitors to the city. It became famous in late 1800s with the arrival of artists such as Renoir, Van Gogh and Picasso.

The Italian capital is truly one of the world’s greatest cities, where 2,000 years of history are reflected in a treasure trove of monuments and buildings crammed with art and heritage, and where present-day life thrives and buzzes amongst the relics of an ancient civilisation.
Bustling, colourful Rome will offer your students a truly unique experience. Though a lifetime would not be long enough to explore Rome, plan your stay carefully and you will be surprised at how much you can see and do.
Our included city sightseeing and orientation tour will provide the ideal introduction to the city, then don your walking shoes to ‘do in Rome what the Romans do’ – walk! Climb to the top of the immense Vittorio Emanuele monument in the city’s bustling heart, to take in the stupendous views and to get your bearings. Head south to the Capitoline Hill, to look down on the Forum and the Colosseum, once the centre of the Roman universe.
Walk north along the Via del Corso, the city’s main thoroughfare, usually thronged with shoppers and sightseers; head west, through the labyrinth of streets leading into Piazza Navona, the city’s most famous, liveliest and beautiful square. Take time to pop into the Palazzo Altemps across from the square - this Renaissance palace is home to an intriguing collection of classical sculptures. Within a short distance from here you’ll find yourself gazing in awe at the fabled Pantheon, a truly awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece built by the Emperor Hadrian and the city’s only architecturally intact monument from the days of the Empire.
Heading east, takes you into the heart of ‘travellers’ Rome. Here you find the city’s most famous meeting point, the fabled Spanish Steps – so called because they cascade spectacularly down into the Piazza di Spagna – and the legendary Fontana di Trevi, into which many a trio of coins has been thrown, and where the ‘beautiful people’ of Rome still gather to enjoy la dolce vita.
During your stay you will undoubtedly cross the River Tiber to the great circular Castel St Angelo, burial place of the Emperor Hadrian, then head on into the Vatican City and vast St Peter’s Square, dominated by the great dome of the Basilica. Of course, no visit to the Vatican would be complete without viewing the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s frescoes and ceiling are amongst the Western world’s greatest masterpieces.
To ensure that you make the most of your trip to Rome your Programme Manager is able to arrange a wide choice of educational visits, activities, excursions and dining options. Full details of everything you might wish to see and do are available in our Rome ‘Educational Visits and Attractions’ Guide. As well as the city’s most renowned sights and museums, it details alternative tours and visits that will appeal to student groups, such as a tour of Mussolini’s Fascist Rome, which takes you to the buildings and urban spaces that best exemplify the use of architecture to transmit the ideology of Fascism, or the climb up Palatine Hill, which offers views of the Roman Forum on one side and Circus Maximus on the other, or Campo dei Fiori, the square which is the site of the city’s best known open-air market, which has been operating since 1869.
Your Programme Manager can also pre-book meals for your group at a range of restaurants in Rome, providing you with their recommendations to suit your itinerary, budget and dietary requirements. Whatever your plans you can rest assured that your Study Experiences Programme Manager will be able to arrange them for you.
From our wide range of educational experiences we recommend:
Vatican Museums & Sistine ChapelA huge complex of galleries and museums, probably housing the world’s greatest collection of antiquities, showcasing painting, sculpture, frescoes, tapestries and classical antiquities including Roman, Greek and Egyptian. Combine this with the impressive Sistine chapel and Raphael's Rooms and one visit here is not likely to be enough.
St Peter’s BasilicaLocated within the walls of the Vatican, in Saint Peter's square, the interior of this cathedral includes 45 altars and has been decorated by many famous artists. Some of the most important works in the church are the Pietà by Michelangelo, the papal altar and the Throne of St. Peter, both by Bernini. The dome or cupola was designed by Michelangelo when he became chief architect in 1546.
ColosseumThis amazing amphitheatre is considered an architectural and engineering wonder and remains as a standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world.
Villa Borghese (Gallery, Museum & Park)
Villa Borghese, located in the centre of the city, is the largest public park in Rome. Created in the 1600s, this elegant park has a lake, plus a number of temples, fountains, statues and several museums. The gallery displays such masterpieces as Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, Titian's Sacred and Profane Love, Raphael's Deposition and Caravaggio's Jerome.

A living museum of the vibrant, colourful excesses of Modernism – Barcelona boasts more Art Nouveau buildings than any other city in the world – this wonderful city is famed for its art, design, architecture, culture and above all for its style!
Our included guided sightseeing and orientation tour will provide the ideal introduction to the city, before you enjoy your pre-arranged visits or spend your time exploring as you wish. The tour will last around three hours and will take in many of the city’s world famous landmarks. You will see Plaça de Catalunya, Casa Batlló, Sagrada Família, Poble Espanyol, Montjuïc, Fundació Joan Miró, Museu Marítim, Port Vell, Port Olímpic, Barri Gotic and Parc Güell as well as many more sights!
Without question Antoni Gaudí’s unique and distinctive architectural style has had the biggest impact on the city of Barcelona’s skyline and landscape. No visit would be complete without seeing the remarkable – and truly awe-inspiring – Sagrada Família, the architect’s towering, unfinished temple which has become Barcelona’s most enduring symbol. Throughout the city are other examples of Gaudí’s unique work, including the famous Casa Milà apartment block in the heart of the Eixample, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Parc Güell, with its colourful mosaics and its striking monuments and statues.
In addition to visiting the city’s smorgasbord of museums and architectural delights, we recommend you take the time to stroll down La Rambla, Spain’s most celebrated street, which is rewarding at every step. Flower stalls, mime artists, the huge Boquería market, Gaudí’s magnificent Palau Güell and the Liceu opera house, as well as countless restaurants and tapas bars, ensure that progress from Plaça de Catalunya, the city’s central square, to the modern Port Vell area, overlooked by the 200-ft high Columbus monument, is a fascinating experience.
Catching the cable car to Montjuïc gives you an excellent perspective over the skyline of Barcelona. Other attractions on the hill include the Olympic Stadium and the Poble Espanyol (Spanish village) a collection of houses in different Spanish architectural styles. At the centre of a plaza in front of the Palau Nacional is the Font Màgica or Magic Fountain. Popular because of its water arrangements, sound and lighting it offers musical choreography lasting 10 to 14 minutes most evenings.
You may like to head out of the city and take the scenic drive to the stunning mountainside monastery of Montserrat, potent symbol and spiritual centre of Catalonia. The fortress-like nature of the building – it is accessible only by winding road or cable car – served it well during the Franco regime, when Montserrat became a refuge for Catalan nationalism, and of course the views from its lofty perch are outstanding.
To ensure that you make the most of your trip to Barcelona your Programme Manager is able to arrange a wide choice of educational visits, activities, excursions and dining options. Full details of everything you might wish to see and do are available in our Barcelona ‘Educational Visits and Attractions’ Guide. As well as the city’s most renowned sights and museums, it details specific visits that will appeal to student groups.
Your Programme Manager can also pre-book meals for your group at a range of restaurants in Barcelona, providing you with their recommendations to suit your itinerary, budget and dietary requirements. Whatever your plans you can rest assured that your Study Experiences Programme Manager will be able to arrange them for you.
From our wide range of educational experiences we recommend:
Sagrada FamiliaThe church of La Sagrada Família was begun in 1882 and in 1883 Gaudí was commissioned to carry on the works, a task which he did not abandon until his death in 1926. Since then different architects have continued the work after his original idea and the building continues.
Casa MilàThe building is the museum! Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is another iconic Gaudí creation and one of the most unusual apartment buildings ever built. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 and is one of the most important museums in Barcelona - also housing renaissance drawings and a collection of modern art paintings.
Parc Güell & Casa Museu-GaudiSituated in north Barcelona, the park contains amazing stone structures, stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. At the top of the park, the terraced area provides a wonderful view of the city. It is also home to Casa-Museu Gaudí which conserves the memory of Gaudi and many examples of furniture and other objects that he designed.
Museu PicassoThe museum is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the more than 3,800 works that make up the museum's permanent collection.
Museu Nacional d'Art de CatalunyaThe Palau Nacional, a landmark building from the 1929 International Exhibition on Montjuïc, is the home of the MNAC. The museum embraces all the arts and aims to explain the general history of Catalan art from the Romanesque period to the mid-20th century.

New York is undoubtedly the liveliest and most exciting city in the world and offers your students a truly unique experience – it is the acknowledged centre of global art, design, business, media, theatre and entertainment.
Art & Design in New York
Give your students the opportunity to experience this spectacular city and visit its world famous sights – the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Broadway, Brooklyn Bridge and Wall Street.
It is also home to some of the world’s leading museums – the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island – the United Nations Headquarters, the world renowned Broadway theatres and the Wall Street financial district.
You and your students will have the chance to visit them all, as well as Times Square, Greenwich Village, Fifth Avenue, Chinatown and Central Park, which will all provide new experiences that will stimulate and inspire them.
Our 5 and 6 day trips ensure that you have enough time to explore this remarkable city and to visit its incredible sights and attractions. Our range of educational programmes and visits for Art and Design students will ensure that your students gain the maximum benefit from their time away and return with a real understanding of art and design in New York.
To ensure that you make the most of your trip to New York your Programme Manager is able to arrange a wide choice of educational visits, activities, excursions and dining options. Full details of everything you might wish to see and do are available
in our New York ‘Educational Visits and Attractions’ Guide. As well as the city’s most renowned sights and museums, this Guide contains details of alternative tours and visits that will appeal to student groups, such as the Wall Street Walking Tour, on which you will see the New York Stock Exchange, the Wall Street Bull and the Federal Reserve and hear about the scandals and stock market crashes that have made Wall Street infamous and, crucially, gain an insider’s view of what happens behind the scenes on Wall Street. The Rockefeller Center also offers a fascinating walking tour in the company of an expert guide. The Legacy of Artistry tour unveils John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s true vision of what the Rockefeller Center was designed for and contrasts that vision with the reality of what it is today.
Alternatively, take in an ‘On Location TV & Movie Tour’ and see where the cast of Glee performed “I Love New York”, visit the apartment building from Friends, catch a glimpse of the Daily Bugle offices in Spider-Man, pass the hotel that doubled for a Paris hotel in The Devil Wears Prada and much more. You can even take part in a film workshop that allows students to produce, shoot and edit a mini-movie in an interactive film workshop.
In the evenings your Programme Manager can arrange for your group to enjoy dinner at a wide range of restaurants, such as Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Café or more traditional New York diners, before they take in a Broadway show, for which we are able to secure specially discounted group rates.
From our wide range of educational experiences we recommend:
Guggenheim MuseumWe can offer an interactive education programme in which students enjoy a thematic gallery tour, before participating in a related studio workshop experience, where they create their own works of art in the museum’s digital or studio art labs.
Metropolitan Museum of ArtFounded in 1870, this mighty museum has a vast collection of anything and everything of artistic value ever produced anywhere in the world.
Museum of Modern ArtMoMA has committed itself to amassing the world’s leading collection of the art of our time. The collection is unparalleled and features the work of such modern and contemporary masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Warhol along with works of the greatest living artists of today. Through discussion-based guided lessons, MoMA educators encourage students to look closely at works of art and articulate ideas about them.
Cooper-Hewitt National Design MuseumThe Cooper-Hewitt Museum is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to the study of historical and contemporary design. A visit includes a guided tour and workshop.
Skyscraper MuseumThis museum considers the design aspects of the buildings as well as how technology has paved the way for even more impressive building opportunities. Educator-lead tours allow students to interact with the museum’s collections and gain an appreciation of skyscrapers.
