What are we learning so far…
• Requires adapta+ons in the sebng
• Requires old and new teaching prac+ces • Focuses children’s aden+on on words which is what we intended in this field study.
Designing & Building 21st Century Learning Environment
Our approach is to: • Focus on a specific new technology e.g., e‐books • ‘Test it’ in the real sebng on a small scale with a few teachers who volunteer…
• Learn from what we observe; ‘iron out’ the bugs • Develop an approach for larger‐scale implementa+on
• Teach teachers & introduce into all classrooms; con+nue to monitor.
DEW Design…going further
• Focus on design making the door, entry, walls another ‘teacher’
• Focus on displaying children’s work/learning in all kinds of ways
• Accentuate the Topic Study & HT theme
• Make the environment ‘beau+ful’
