The clubhouse is one of the leisure facilities in the Forte Nanshan’s masterplan. Other leisure facilities

are hotel (12,000m²) and outdoor retail street (13,000m²) which was completed in 1Q2013.

The clubhouse functions as a mediating icon that brings residents, visitors, and all the elements of the

master plan together. It was the topography characteristic of the location that inspired the

architectural aesthetic of the complex. The common space links together the different elements of

the building; including a gym, a swimming pool, children playground, offices, arts-and-crafts

classrooms, meeting rooms, a restaurant and a café. The common space is being utilized as a

showroom and sales gallery.

El Mirador is a 22-storey public housing building located in Sanchinarro, a residential suburb on the

north east edge of Madrid. The building was developed as a reference point for the city extension

and region at large, as a counterpoint against the massive uniformity of the surrounding blocks.

The Mirador contains a wide variety of compact housing types, catering to the different life-styles and

offer the residents high standards of habitable space, natural light, panoramic views and comfort. In

contrast to the repetition of the standard family unit, the housing units are grouped in small

“buildings”. These “blocks”, stacked together, making up a new towering “superblock”. A large

communal sky-plaza located at 40m above the ground provides residents with community space and

garden. The strips of red indicate the corridors.
