PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Experience Days for Kindergarten 2017 commenced today
and we welcomed a number of new families and their
children to Armidale City Public School. It was wonderful
to see so many happy, smiling faces and students getting
straight into the swing of things at ‘big school’. Our
Orientation Program will run over the next seven weeks and
students will get to experience all aspects of school at
Armidale City Public School before commencing in 2017. If
parents have any friends who are thinking about where
their child may commence schooling in 2017, please
encourage them to contact the school office. Parents who
have children for Kindergarten 2017 should also let the
school office know if they have not already done so.
Our first P&C Meeting for Term 4 will be held from 6.30pm
in the Library this evening. All parents are encouraged to
come along and join in with the P&C who do a tremendous
job supporting our school and all students.
We have decided for this term to move our Assembly
time to 12.30pm still being held every second Tuesday.
We will be trialling this time for Term 4 and welcome
feedback from parents.
Well done to all students who have started Term 4 with a
positive attitude to their schooling and already working on
their attributes of being a good learner. The achievements
of our students on a daily basis are outstanding and
everyone in the school community can be very proud of what
our students, teachers and parents achieve through working

We need volunteers to help wash cars, collect money,
direct traffic and sell cakes. We also need donations of
cakes for the cake stall. Please put this date in your diary

know you can help out.
Thank you to everyone who supported our pyjama day at
the end of last term—especially the students who
collected the money. We hope that everyone had lots of
fun while raising $458.
The P&C Federation is campaigning against the
privatisation of Sport & Rec Centres (including Lake
Keepit). If you are interested in reading their letter,
finding out more and/or signing a petition please pop in
to the School Office and ask to see it.

LIBRARY NEWS The Book Fair next week has an Australian Theme so for our
Guessing Competition every student will get to have 1 FREE
guess at how many

Caramello Bears PLUS
Small Boxes of Smarties are in the Lolly Jar.
The winner takes the WHOLE Jar of
traditional Australian Lollies.
WIN A HUGE Jar Of MINTIES,
CARAMELLO BEARS and SMARTIES & the
chance of a $15 Voucher.
IF students would like to have more chances to guess how
many lollies there are they can – for ONLY 50 cents. The
50 cent guesses are limited to an extra 4 per student - $2
worth.
Just think $2 for a HUGE Jar of Australian sweeties.
Students can enter during their Library lessons and before
school and at lunchtimes on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday.
ONLY FREE guesses will be eligible to win the $15 vouchers.
The students from Kindergarten, Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4
and Years 5 & 6 that come closest to the winning number will
each receive a $15 voucher to spend at the Book Fair next
week, (or on Book Club).
The winner will be announced on Friday 14 October 2016 at
lunchtime.

3/4R NEWS We all give luck to the Year 4’s going to Lake Keepit on
Tuesday next week. The Year 3’s will be doing some special
fun activities with Miss Roberts and Miss T back at school.
We recently had a class photo competition. We went outside
and took lots of pictures. The winner for the photo
competition was Lilly, Elana and Felicity with the picture
displayed below.

Basketball is Back!!!
Armidale Minibasketball and Aussie Hoops term 4 activities will begin on Monday 17 October and run for 7 weeks.
Kindergarten to year 2 players are all welcome at 4-5pm on a Monday for Aussie Hoops skills and activities with Mark Doyle.
Players in years 3 & 4 are required to turn up at 5pm and for those in years 5 & 6 turn up at 6pm for their game.
Aussie Hoops training will be on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5pm with Richard Stayner and Dok Mamer.
All activities are held at The Den, located at Armidale High School.
The cost for returning players Aussie Hoops players (i.e., those who registered online in Terms 1 or 2) is $35. If you are a new player (i.e., you haven’t previously registered for Aussie Hoops) the cost is $60, which includes an Aussie Hoops participant pack - basketball, reversible singlet, and backpack.
