AUGUST 2014 24 ARKANSAS VALLEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE arkansas valley electric cooperative edition Mattison Griffin of Van Buren and Kyle Keefer of Clarksville were among 43 Arkansas high school students who toured Washington, D.C., in June as part of the 2014 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. Griffin and Keefer represented Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative on the tour, which took place from June 14-19. They and the other Arkansas youth joined about 1,600 students from 43 states who took part in the tour. The Arkansas youth tour participants were selected through essay contests and interviews. The Arkansas group is sponsored by Arkansas Valley Cooperative and the state’s 16 other electric cooperatives. The tour is designed to offer students from throughout the United States an opportunity to visit historical monuments and experience the workings of the nation’s government. Sites on the Arkansas group’s tour included the U.S. Capitol, the Smithsonian Institution museums, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Marine Corps Museum, the Newseum, the World War II Memorial, as well as the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the FDR Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, among others sites. Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative is proud to be a part of this program, which helps build leaders for Arkansas. It’s part of our commitment to the communities that we serve. was hired as a Customer Service Representative in May 2014.Micah graduated from County Line High School, and also attended the

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. She worked in the Optometry field for eight years before joining Arkansas Valley Electric.

Micah enjoys spending her free time watching her kids play sports, and she is a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. She and her family spend most of their summer weekends on the lake or at a ball field.

Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative Corporation held its annual meeting at the Cooperative Headquarters in Ozark, Arkansas on Friday, June 20, 2014. Several members and employees were present.

The meeting was called to order by President of the Board, BeLinda Efurd and the invocation was given by Key Accounts Manager, Greg Davis. Mrs. Efurd gave a report on the activities of the Cooperative over the last fiscal year.

The Cooperative attorney, Lonnie Turner, read the minutes of the 2013 annual meeting which were approved as read.

Secretary of the Board, Brandon Haberer, spoke on the financial condition of the Cooperative and of some of the

accomplishments over the past year.CEO/General Manager Bill Peters gave a short overview

of the operations of the cooperative explaining how the revenue from the sale of electric energy was spent.

The ballots for the election of board members were tabulated and the results were as follows: elected to three (3) year terms were: Sam Davis, Johnson County; BeLinda Efurd, Crawford County; Phillip King, Sebastian County; and, Sean Holland, Sebastian County.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

A drawing was held for door prizes and the winners were notified.
