A.K. Othman is a Professor at Faculty of Engineering,Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Currently, he is the Dean of

Faculty of Engineering; Fellow and Head of Energy Group at Institute of

Science Informatics and Technology Innovations (ISITI); and Head of

Solar PV Group at Center for Renewable Energy (CREN). He is also a

corporate member of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM:72907) and

registered as Professional Engineer (PEng:17512) with Board of Engineers

Malaysia since 2016.

He graduated his first degree from Nottingham Trent University, U.K in

1995 with BEng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering,

followed by MSc. in Information Technology (Digital) from Nottingham

University, U.K. in 1996. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in

Engineering from Newcastle upon Tyne University, U.K. in 2007 with

specialization in Underwater Acoustic Network Protocol.

His expertise, capability and trustworthiness are well-known in the

field of communication network protocol and renewable energy through

more than 18 years of his experienced in research, design and

development; accomplished more than 40 research grants with the total

amount of more than RM15 million; supervised more than 10 postgraduate

students for both PhD and Master by research; presented and published

more than 100 ISI, SCOPUS Indexed journals and proceedings at the

international and national level respectively; and, author and co-author

of numerous published technical papers, books, book chapters and

guidebooks. In addition, he has also involved in the industrial based

consultancy with a total amount of more than RM12.6 million. Moreover,

he is also well versed in academic matters such as accreditation,

curriculum development, teaching and learning for both postgraduate and

undergraduate programs.

Besides the above achievements, he has both experience and knowledge of

telecommunication products design and implementation of engineering

projects in the United Kingdom and Malaysia, respectively.
