Greenfield Public Schools
The Greenfield Public School district wanted a multi-site design that was
easy to navigate, attractive, and accessible to students, families, community and staff; included
expanded calendar features; and integrated social media. They needed a website that would do a better job
at helping them connect with their community. At the same time, the site was to provide students with a
“hub” that gives them quick access to resources, tools, email, and more.
The existing district website was not friendly for browsing or searching, and
was not mobile-responsive. It was dependent on Dreamweaver software, making it difficult to add or train new content contributors; and teachers in
the district had their own sites, hosted at multiple locations and services.
The school district chose to completely redesign their multi-site web presence,
in order to create a universal, consistent look and feel between the
district, schools, and teacher sites.
The new GPS website included a design that was easy to navigate
and accessible to students, families, community and staff; included
expanded calendar features; and integrated social media. The new
design, with the use of more photography throughout, reflects the learning and activities at Greenfield
Public Schools using a fresh approach.
“The site design reflects the process of community engagement, including 203 participants in the Communications Survey, the Superintendent’s listening session, and also a trial session at Greenfield High School. The new website
has gotten great response.”

Early Educator Pathways
The Pioneer Valley Educational Readiness Center wanted to create a new website that offered clear, easy to navigate, current information to help early educators find the best options and advice for advancing their careers in early education and care; by pursuing recognized credentials and college degrees. The site needed to be easy to maintain and keep accurate, with extensive information from colleges and partner organizations.
TPERC talked with other web development vendors about their idea, but found them prohibitively expensive and felt they offered an off-the shelf template approach. “You can spend a lot of money and not get what you want. You have to be really clear what you’re looking for in working with web development vendors,” said Kay Lisseck, Executive Director of PERC.
“I appreciated working with someone who is a really good listener. He heard what we wanted, and went off and built it, and was able to accommodate our learning
curve along the way.”
— Kay Lisseck, Executive Director Pioneer Valley Readiness Center
CLIENT SNAPSHOT
Travis Johnston of CES started with deep discussions with Kay about her ideas and goals. This led to a detailed sitemap proposal and a deep content outline for the website that would offer easy searching and navigation. The content and site development process was iterative, with more consultations and adjustments along the way, until both felt that the site design achieved its goals.
PERC’s college partners on the project looked at the website, and felt it was intuitive and easy to use. The Readiness Center also found the user training hugely helpful in their ability to easily make changes to the content on the site themselves. When the site was shared with other Readiness Centers across the Commonwealth, they were also excited about the potential of the design. The statewide network of Readiness Centers have approved and contracted for a project to expand on the PERC Pathways site to build a multi-site network statewide, with
regional pathways for each major region.
