What is Digital Citizenship?

• Digital Citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology use.

Cell phone use

• Cell phones ARE NOT and WILL NOT be used during instructional time, faculty meetings, other meetings and in the lunchroom.

• Students are prohibited from the use of cell phones.

• Violators will receive a disciplinary action and their cell phone will be confiscated.

Social Networking

• Social Networking is a group of individuals who are looking to meet new people, gather and share information via internet.

• Social networking is prohibited !

• There are several dangers to social networking such as data theft, viruses, and online predators.

• To keep our school safe, all social networks is prohibited! This includes Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. 5

Cyberbullying•Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. •Cyber bullying is wrong and harmful to others.•Cyber bullying include mean text messages, pictures, rumors through emails or social networks.•Anyone who is taking part in any bullying activity will be expelled and reported to the Police Department.

Email and Internet Safety

• It is important to always be safe and protected while on the internet. In order to do that, you must follow a few guidelines.

• If you receive harassing emails or any messages that make you feel uncomfortable, you should immediately speak to your teacher, parents or a trusted adult.

• Never agree to meet with someone you have met online.

• Only become “friends” with people you know in real life.

• Never give out personal information like your real name, address, or your school.

• If you plan to go on vacation, do not post pictures, videos, or etc until after you have come back from vacation.

• Never be the suspect of cyber bullying! Do not send out messages that may make someone else feel uncomfortable.

Copyright and Plagiarism

It is NOT okay!

• Do NOT copy and paste someone else’s work and take it as your own!

• If you use work from the internet, you must list your reference.

• Copyright is the law stating that you do not have the right to steal someone else’s idea without giving them credit.

Digital access

• Technology use is only permitted for instructional purposes.

• Students must receive permission from the teacher in order to access any technological device in the classroom.

• Each student will receive 35 minutes of computer time during the designated day for computer access.

Classroom Computer Rules

• No eating or drinking at the computers.• The computers should be used for

educational purposes ONLY!• Do not personalize computers, do not

change backgrounds, screensavers or move icons!

• Ask for permission before printing.• Do not bother a computer that is assigned

to someone else.
