8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.

Your adversary, the devil, prowls around

like a roaring lion, seeking someone to

devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your

faith………

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will

say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be

known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be

anxious for nothing, but in everything by

prayer and supplication with thanksgiving

let your requests be made known to God. 7

And the peace of God, which surpasses all

comprehension, will guard your hearts and

your minds in Christ Jesus.

Rejoice

• To be delighted in.

• To feel or show great joy or delight.

• To be glad minded.

• To leap, dance, stomp.

• What are we to be delighted in, why are

we to be glad minded and why should

we leap, dance, stomp.

Page 8: ARE THERE SPIRITUAL BENEFITS FROM BEING THANKFUL? · BEING THANKFUL? John 10:10 (NASB95) 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,

What are we to be delighted in, why are

we to be glad minded and why should we

leap, dance, stomp.

• We have what the world does not.

• Being focused on what we have keeps

our mind from being double minded.

• And by leaping we can rise above,

dance on the way and stomp on that

which seeks to destroy.

12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in

tribulation, devoted to prayer……

• Church there are spiritual benefits

from being thankful.

• We don’t have to look at our situations

as they are but as they will be

according to the Word of God.

• Resting upon.

Psalm 91:1–2 (NASB95)

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most

Almighty. 2 I will say to the LORD, “My

refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I

trust!”

1 John 4:4 (NASB95)

4 You are from God, little children, and

He who is in you than he who is in the

world.

Page 12: ARE THERE SPIRITUAL BENEFITS FROM BEING THANKFUL? · BEING THANKFUL? John 10:10 (NASB95) 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,

• He who assumes & exercises the

power. Principal, Ruler, He who has

dominion over.

Philippians 2:9–10 (NASB95)

9 For this reason also, God highly exalted

Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is

above every name, 10 so that at the name of

Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are

in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Psalm 147:7–11 (NASB95)

7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving;

Sing praises to our God on the lyre, 10

He does not delight in the strength of the

horse; He does not take pleasure in the

legs of a man. 11 The LORD favors those

who fear Him, Those who wait for His

lovingkindness.

hand,

2 Samuel 6:12–14 (NASB95)

12 Now it was told King David, saying,

“The LORD has blessed the house of

Obed-edom and all that belongs to him,

on account of the ark of God.” David

went and brought up the ark of God

from the house of Obed-edom into the

city of David with gladness.

2 Samuel 6:12–14 (NASB95)

13 And so it was, that when the bearers

of the ark of the LORD had gone six

paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.

14 And David was dancing before the

LORD with all his might, and David was

wearing a linen ephod.

The issue was not what he was wearing but how he was feeling.

• To consider.

• To reflect.

• To take thought.

And do not lean on your own

understanding.

rejoice, have a gentle spirit, be

anxious for nothing, pray, be

thankful, let our request be

known, find peace and have our

hearts and minds guarded.
