    PART 3 – CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS/PRE-ID REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION

    Questions received and answers in red:

    1. Please provide a copy of the pre-bid meeting sign in sheet. See attached

    2. What is the anticipated start date? The anticipated Construction Start Date is May 1, 2021.

    3. What are the Liquidated Damages for this project? No

    4. Is there an anticipated construction cost or an Owner???s Stated Cost Limitation for this project? There

    is approved funding for this project. Gwinnett County expects each contractor to bid a competitive

    price. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.

    5. Will the General Contractor be responsible to include the costs of any permit fees? There are no pay

    permit fees on this project, but the General Contractor will be responsible for obtaining all necessary

    permits.

    6. Will the General Contractor be responsible to include the costs of materials testing and/or special

    inspections? No.

    7. Will the General Contractor be responsible to include the costs of hazardous materials

    testing/abatement? No.

    8. Please clarify what the deck height for the existing structure is. Existing Deck height is 19’-10” to roof.

    Underside of deck above to unoccupied Attic Space is 10’-8”

    9. Specs call for motorized aluminum blinds and blackout shades. Please clarify where these are required.

    Revised specifications to remove requirements for motorized blinds and shades.

    10. Please provide dimensions for Window W3. Revised Sheet A-7.01 Door & Window Schedule and

    SECTION 12 20 00

    WINDOW TREATMENT

    PART 1 GENERAL

    1.01 SUMMARY

    A. Furnish labor, equipment, materials and services to provide window treatments, accessories and attaching hardware as specified herein at locations shown or scheduled on the drawings. If no locations or schedules shown on drawings, provide the specified materials at all window locations.

    B. This section includes: 1. Metal horizontal louver blinds.

    1.02 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of treatment described below including data on physical

    characteristics, warranties, and recommendations for maintenance and cleaning. B. Shop Drawings: At 1/4 inch scale showing location and extent of treatments including

    installation details. C. Samples:

    1. Fabric/Shade Cloth: For initial selection purposes showing full range of colors available for each type of treatment specified.

    1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Obtain each type of treatment from one source of a single manufacturer. B. Flame-retardant fabrics shall meet the requirements of the National Fire Protection

    Association (NFPA) 701 Flame Test.

    1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Do not deliver items to the site, until all specified submittals have been submitted to and

    approved by the Architect. B. Do not deliver shades to the project until all concrete, masonry, plaster and other wet

    work has been completed and is dry. C. Deliver prefabricated shades to site in labeled protective packages, uniquely identified

    for each intended location. Schedule delivery to prevent delays but minimize on-site storage.

    1.05 FIELD CONDITIONS A. Prior to installations, building shall be enclosed. Interior temperature shall be maintained

    between 50 and 85 degrees F. and relative humidity shall not exceed 60%. B. Check openings by field measurements before fabrication. Where field measurements

    cannot be made without delaying the work, guarantee opening dimensions and proceed with fabrication of treatment without field measurements. Coordinate wall and ceiling construction to ensure that actual opening dimensions correspond to guarantee dimensions.

    1.04 MAINTENANCE A. Clearly label all spare components and supply to Owner upon completion in original

    packaging for storage on site by Owner.

    2.02 MATERIALS AND FABRICATION

    A. Metal Horizontal Louver Blinds

    1. Slats: Shall be aluminum alloy 6011, heat treated, no reprocessed metals, 1" wide x .0073" thick before painting.

    2. Headrail: Shall be 1" x 1 9/16" .025" steel, treated to resist corrosion, formed into a U- shape with rolled edges, coated with a baked-on polyester finish to match slats. Hardware shall be enclosed in the headrail.

    3. Tilter: Shall be worm and gear type of die-cast metal, enclosed in a .031" thick housing of engineered polymer, with clutch action.

    4. Tilt Wand: Shall be extruded, clear acrylic with tubular construction, 5/16" diameter, and detachable without tools.

    5. Tilt Rod: Shall be solid steel with corrosion resistant finish. Torsional strength of tilt rod: angle of twist shall not exceed 6 degrees when loaded as the equivalent of a 120" x 120" blind in the closed position when using mating tape eccentrics.

    6. Cord Lock: Shall be engineered polymer housing with nickel plated die-cast bearing surface and brass locking dogs. The locking device shall be crash proof.

    7. Bottom Rail: Shall be .031" steel, treated to resist corrosion, with baked-on polyester paint, color coordinated to slats. It shall be formed with a double-lock seam into a closed shape, with color matching end caps. Equip to accept hold-down pins and be able to withstand 1/2 ft. lbs. of torque per foot.

    8. End Locks: Shall be .024" steel with adjustable tab for centering blinds. 9. Braided Ladder: Shall be 100% polyester yarn with spacing not more than [ 21.5 mm,

    14.2 slats per foot ] [ privacy, 18 mm, with hidden rout holes ] of drop. 10.Lift Cords: Shall be two-ply polyester cord filler and braided polyester jacket, .070" in

    diameter. 11.Installation Brackets: Brackets shall be .048" steel with polyester baked-on finish to

    match handrail. Blinds over 60" wide shall have intermediate support brackets with maximum spacing 60".

    PART 3 EXECUTION

    3.01 EXAMINATION

    A. Verify that all blocking and framing necessary to carry shade assembly hardware is properly installed and secure.

    3.02 INSTALLATION - GENERAL

    A. Blinds and shades shall be installed square and level. Maximum variation of gap at window opening perimeter shall be 0.25 inch in 8 feet of height. Leave all units in perfect working
