The Indian institute of management was intended as Centre for training of Indian business leaders.

Concept of Kahn was monastic enclave as starting point of design . The unity of teaching building ,dormitory and faculty housing. Orientation to wind and shade has given architectural elements to composition.

Design was to produce a central ,square courtyard and square masses at the corner.

Diagonal walls were paired to produce circular openings to allow courtyard ventilated by breezes.
