Walking Groups Welcome New Walkers in Mental Health Week.

New walkers are welcome to join the following groups during Celebrage and Mental Health Week—FREE. Call Archie Graham Centre on 5559 4920 to express interest in joining any of the groups and we will arrange the regular walkers to look out for you. If you enjoy these walks, you can join in every week of the year!

Seniors Citizens Club Walking Group:

Tuesday the 9th and Thurs-day the 11th of October—Walkers meet 9am at the first car park at Lake Pertobe; it’s the one close to the Surf Club.

Walk for Wellness:

In conjunction with Warrnambool Mental Health Week; meet on Mon-day the 29th of October for a 10am walk from the Surf Club (beach-side). Morning tea will be provided at the end of the walk.

Heart Foundation Walking Groups:

Monday 8th October for a 10.00am walk or at Aquazone on Tuesday the 9th October for a 4.30pm start.

Social Cyclists: A friendly cycling group for adults keen to ride Warrnambool paths and trails.

Rusty Riders

The next Rusty Rider Session is 9am Friday 9th November; meet at Shipwreck Bay Holiday Park on Pertobe Road (opposite mini-golf; walk past the boom gate to the bike shed).

Volunteers will check your skills so you are safe to join the group. Bring your own bike and helmet or you can hire them for $4.00 per ride. To book a spot, call 5559 4920

Social Ride & BBQ Lunch

Gardening at Archie

Our September morning coffee session was well supported with 26 people coming along to talk about gardening. There is something about the generosity of gardeners that energises a room. We shared cuttings, ideas and cake.

A small group will come together on Wednesday mornings to take care of the Archie Courtyard gardens, Tasty Plate herb garden etc.

November Morning Coffee

Members of local birding groups will join us for coffee and will share their knowledge of local birds and regional birding sites.

Walkers, cyclists or gardeners inter-ested in adding a new dimension to their activity are most welcome.

The beauty of birdwatching is it’s able to be done anywhere and anytime you feel like it.

If there is interest we will plan a birding walk at Lake Pertobe in the near future

4 Steps for Life +

A CPR Awareness Program for community members. Open to everyone; however those involved in walking and cycling groups are strongly encouraged to attend.

The program format is via DVD instruc-tion & practice is on a pillow.

Automated External Defibrillator After the CPR session, you can stay and familiarise yourself with an Automated External Defibrillator

(AED) which is another vital link in the chain of sur-vival for a person who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

End of Life Preparations Workshop

Over the course of two hours learn about advanced care planning, powers of attorney and wills. Be in-

spired to complete an end of care plan, a life review, a death plan and funeral plan. Facilitated by Dr Eric

Fairbank.

Beach and body boarding sessions for older adults who are interested in getting into the sea again, but first want to build confidence and skills to do so safely.
