1.

3 Major Principlesi.

Convergence – parallel lines appear to recede towards a single

point called the vanishing point.

ii.

Foreshortening – Objects with the same height and length

appear smaller as they move away from the viewer.

iii.  Diminution - distance affects not only the sie but the

appearance! details! color and tone as well.

".

Visual Cone

#irtual cone formed by similar angles around the line of sight.

$emember the numbers! %&&

from each side of the line of sight 'both in

plan and in elevation( for a total of )&&

is drawn to find the cone of

vision. *ee illustration below! '+ulaong! "&1"( Curved elements of the

a.

One-oint arallel erspective - 'refer to our joint lecture e5ercise

where one side of the plan lies along the picture plane(.

b.  6wo-oint arallel erspective 'refer to our previous e5ercise where

plan is rotated 73o

from the line of vision(. 6his shows the two sides of

the plan in e8ual angles and thus shows elements of the plan with e8ual

emphasis.

c.

6wo-oint 9ngular erspective ! using the %&&:)&

&angles! the side that

needs to be shown with less distortion is at the %&&  side.

d.

6hree-oint 9ngular erspective. ;ere the vertical lines of the

perspective drawing also would vanish to a point.

9.  Anal:tical Method 4 this method uses trigonometric functions in finding the

location of the # along the ;orion ,ine. 6his was presented as an alternate

method.  Aou may still use the projected or graphical method. 6he advantage of

this method is the scale of the drawings needed can be determined after

computing the distances of the # in relation to the paper sie.

;.  ra#in! Circles and Curves in Perspective

6o draw Circles and Curves in erspective! it entails having the curves or circles

inscribed in a s8uare or a rectangle in plan. @se the diagonals to plot points to

represent other points along the circle. Connect the points using your ellipse

template 'though this depends on the major and minor a5is that you have(!

French Curve or Fle5ible Curve. 6he following images from 0ontagueBs boo

show how it is done. $ead Chapter ! pages 111-177 to see the following
