Requirements
1. ArcGIS for Desktop
2. ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 1. Install On Desktop and Mobile device
2. Also Install Mobile Project Center on Desktop
3. Add Mobile ToolBox
3. A Windows or Windows Mobile device with NMEA GPS

Step 1. Map Clean up A few Easy steps to make ArcGIS for Windows Mobile Perform better
•Select Simple Symbols •Turn off Unused fields •Turn on Labels •Set Scale Range on Labels •Set Scale Range on Backgrounds
Step 2 – Prep the Database
•Global IDs are needed to make a layer editable •In ArcCatalog Windows> Right Click Feature DataSet or Feature Class > Manage > Add Global IDs
•Attachments need to be added to any layer you want to take photos of
•In ArcCatalog Window > Right Click Feature Class>
Manage > Create Attachments
Step 3 - Create the Cache Save the Map and then Open ArcToolBox
•After Installing ArcGIS for Windows Mobile – Add the Mobile Tools to your ArcToolbox
•Right Click ArcToolbox > Add Toolbox > Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Mobile10.2\ArcToolbox\Toolboxes
•Run the Create Mobile Cache Tool
Step 4 – Create a Mobile Project
Open Mobile Project Center •File > New
•Add Operational layer from Mobile Cache
Configure Layers and Tasks Make sure layers Customize Tasks
are editable
Save the Mobile Project first, then Set the Project Extent Must be Save in
MyDocuments\ArcGIS Mobile
Save Map again after Setting Project Extent
Copy The Mobile Project to the GPS It has to live in MyDocuments\ArcGIS Mobile or ArcGIS for Windows Mobile wont see it
Tip – leave GPS connected for 30 seconds after copy is finished
Step 4 – Collect Data with ArcGIS for Windows Mobile

Exit ArcMobile and copy Mobile Project back to Desktop
Step 5 – Sync the Cache Open the same MXD and run the
Synchronize Mobile Cache tool
Finish
Imagery Appendix
The projection of the Imagery must match the projection of the other layers in the Mobile
Project.
You can re-project raster with ArcGIS or with GeoExpress 9 from Lizard tech.
Or
If you other layers are blank, it may be easier to re-project your database layers.
Generate Map Server Cache Tiling Scheme
These are the scales that your imagery will perform best
Share As a Tile Package (File > Share As > Tile Package)
Format Tile
Point to the Tile Scheme you Created
Name and Check for Errors
Share, but be aware this may bog down your computer for hours
Open Mobile Project Center
•Save your Mobile project in MyDocuments \ArcGIS Mobile
•Extract Tile Package into your Mobile Project
Tile Package should also be extracted to MyDocuments \ ArcGIS Mobile \<Your Project>
